Cupcakes on the go are all the rage these days - first with Sprinkles Cupcakes ATMs, and now with Baked by Melissa's cupcake pod machine. The cupcake dispenser, which resembles a giant gumball machine, made its debut during New York Fashion Week, but those who were hoping to see it gracing city streets are out of luck.
The pod machine is now only available to rent for events, with a 1,000 cupcake minimum for five hours, which fills half the machine. Make a selection between either 1,000 standard variety cupcakes for $4,200 or 1,000 custom cupcakes for $4,300. Up your game by ordering 2,000 minis for $5,000 or $5,200, depending on which cakes you order. Any additional cupcakes go for $1.30 each.
Fans of Dirty Bird To-Go can breathe happy now that the West Village eatery has opened its second location in Tribeca. This larger location offers up fried and rotisserie chicken in three different ways - dipped in buttermilk and fried, slow-roasted, and fried chicken tenders. All the chicken is sustainable, free-range and locally sourced for the best quality meat. Chef Justin Crooks of North End Grill heads up the premises with additional signature menu items such as mac n cheese, sauteed garlic kale and plenty of daily specials. Specialty drinks such as The Dirty Palmer (lemonade, peach supreme iced tea), La Colombe coffee and more are all available at the new location.

The relatively new Kolo Klub, located above Pilsener Haus & Biergarten, in Hoboken, is all about the cocktails. With super mixologists straight from NYC, the bartenders here sure know how to whip up a mean drink. September is National Bourbon Month and luckily enough this cocktail den knows all about booze- especially bourbon. Try their Old Fashioned ($12) made with Jim Beam Rye/Bourbon, angostura bitters and garnished with a cherry and orange wedge or opt for their classic Manhattan ($12), which is comprised of Jim Beam Rye/Bourbon, sweet vermouth, angostura bitters and garnished with a cherry or lemon twist. Both cocktails can be made with Makers 46 or Knob Creek Rye for an additional charge. So celebrate bourbon like it’s going out of style at Kolo Klub!
