The Hurricane Club

Tropical themed bars can get a little cheesy...but this spot is heating up in all the right ways. Expect to find sophisticated decor with shell stone fireplaces, mosquito net curtains, and chandeliers. This Polynesian-inspired happening has cocktails a-plenty for the extremely parched. Served as a punch, or in your choice of coconut, melons, or red peppers, this place well deserves your lovin'.

A chat with 'The Street Is In The House' artist Carlos Sampietro

Carlos Sampietro, born in Lake Como, Italy, moved from the advertising industry to the arts. Don't worry about getting bored while looking at his collection, "The Street Is In The House," is truly unique. Sampietro's motto for the exhibit is "There is beauty in something that has been in the street for so long."

Pictured above, is one of Sampietro's police barrier tables. The artist wanted to bring something that is normally scary and used to separate people, and turn it into something that will bring people together. Many of his works use similar elements -- transforming an item from the street into something beautiful and something that makes a statement about society.

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Comes to an End

Although I do watch my fair share of Project Runway, I am not a fashion savant, nor do I pretend to know much about it. How exactly did I find myself at the Alexander McQueen exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, you ask? Well, after all of the rave reviews it got, it's hard not to be curious. On Friday morning I went to check out the scene...and was utterly shocked. Wrapped around blocks and blocks was the line just waiting to get inside the museum. Once inside, there were even more lines to enter the exhibit. I knew that the exhibit would be crowded, but I did not expect the mob scene that awaited me upon my arrival. The wait turned out to be well worth it.

THE HOT SPOT Error

As for the menu? This too will remain unchanged, although there will be a few welcome additions, including make your own tacos, and guac and chips (a staple for any Mexican diner).
