News Flash: The Day After Halloween is a Monday?!

The calendar is totally messing up our sacred party time. For most of us who have work or school on Monday, November 1st, we are dreading the Monday slump even more so than usual. Fret not pooped out partier, a few quick tips and cosmetic lifesavers are enough to help you play the role of bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, rather than walking zombie.

Sole Circus

Zack Lo may not be a household name yet, but it seems like it’s only a matter of time before his eccentric and super-sexy shoes are easily recognized by those in and outside the Boston fashion scene. Having already presented in the Emerging Trends for the past two years, an appearance in Glamour magazine and a NYC debut, his Voodoo Circus collection has been received smashingly. Kathryn Sky-Peck, Art Director for Zack Lo, calls the designer “camera shy," so I was even more delighted to speak with the “shy” man behind the wild shoes.

Is this a Costume Party or a Fashion Show?

We obsess over wearing (and affording) their clothing, but this Halloween it's time to honor the person behind the label. Best of all, you probably have all the items in your closet, can buy them cheap and will be able to wear them after the last bottle is popped at this year's greatest bash.

Boyfriend in a Bottle

It's that scent that lingers long after he leaves and brings back an instant memory as soon as you smell it: it's your boyfriend's cologne. And now it's yours, even after the man leaves.

Private Practice's Kate Walsh is launching her first perfume collection this November appropriately named Boyfriend. The famous red head was inspirired when she realized that the thing she missed most after a breakup was not her ex, but his cologne. It's the smell you loved to nuzzle up to, ''that masculine, piney scent that lingered on his clothes," Kate says.

The Bird's The Word

Audrina's sexy peacock ensemble is totally show-stopping, and there are plenty of ways to recreate her look before October 31st and the big Halloween bash at Capitale. Most Halloween stores should carry some version of a peacock costume, but it can easily be put together with pieces that can be reused way after Capitale's party ends. While Audrina's dress is quite extravagant, a bright blue or green dress with some peacock accessories are all your really need. Any local craft or fabric store will also offer individual feathers so you can fashion your own plumes and shake your tail feather all night long. To achieve a simple and super pretty peacock-inspired makeup look, Sephora has created a step-by-step guide and tips for how to wow 'em this Halloween.

Zack Lo Debuts in NYC

In a crowd of sharp-dressed twenty-somethings, Staci Sherri presented her Holiday Collection preview last Sunday evening at Slate in New York City. With sexy, formfitting dresses, off-the-shoulder tops and pops of sparkle and shine, the collection complemented, but didn’t compete with, the outlandish and statement-making Zack Lo shoes that walked the runway. London- and Boston-based, Zack Lo made his New York debut with the Voodoo Circus collection that was seen on the models and sold after the show, as well.

Staci’s offered some great options in LBDs and fun accents, including cutout patterns and bows, that would be appropriate for any upcoming holiday party. However Zack Lo’s shoes could have had a whole show just for themselves. Last seen in Boston Fashion Week's Emerging Trends Show, Lo is currently in Asia working on his next collection. If it's anything like the Voodoo Circus, there's a lot to look forward to. The Bumble Shoe, featured in April’s Glamour, has neon colors, zebra print, tassels and a fuzzy t-strap that will make you do a double-take.

Stay posted for an upcoming interview with up-and-coming designer Zack Lo in Boston's Glam Damn It.
