The School of American Ballet will host its biggest event of the year tonight: The Annual Winter Ball. This year the event will be a Russian-themed winter wonderland in honor of the school's Russian heritage. The benefit, sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels, will take place at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater.
The extravagant black-tie event will host over 500 guests, including leaders from across NYC's various communities, board members and alumni. The evening will feature dinner and an exclusive performance by the advanced students of the School of American Ballet. The one-time only performance was specially choreographed by SAB and NYCB's Melinda Roy. All proceeds benefit programs at The School of American Ballet, as well as scholarships, and maintaining the school various studios and facilities.
After the dinner and performance, stick around for The Encore, the Winter Ball’s after party. Over 200 of the city’s young professionals will be attending for dancing and dessert. Dinner tickets include admission to The Encore.
Amidst a whirlwind of announcements, Electric Daisy NYC is happening faster than anyone can keep up. Tickets are on sale TODAY! With no official lineup announced or further details, the madness has already begun! Pasquale Rotella tweeted:
If you love designer bags, shoes, and accessories, a new boutique has come to Chelsea called DF Discount. As covered in Time Out NY, the boutique offers in-season designer goods from Prada, Fendi, Tod's, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana, and more. Savings average about 20% off what you would normally pay. We were a little confused as to how this was possible --we always assumed we had to pay full retail for our designer goods! According to the owner, all items are 100% authentic and the key to their business is that they import their goods "duty-free" from overseas in small quantities, passing the savings on to their customers (which apparently includes celebs in-the-know). As described on their site: "We travel throughout Europe to bring you current authentic merchandise from top highend designers. We keep our over head low so we can offer you the lowest price possible. Visit us often as new styles are always arriving."
It has just been announced that The Electric Daisy Carnival will come to NYC on May 19 & 20! In partnership with Pacha NYC, Insomniac Events will finally bring the infamous carnival to the big apple. The lineup and location is yet to be announced but you can expect it to contain the biggest names in EDM and house.
Santos Party House will be housing the offical pop-up after party for Cosmic Opera. Both nights of Cosmic Opera are sold out so if you missed out on tickets for Act One, you can still get in on the fun!
In conjunction with our weekly Electric Beach party we are combining forces with Cosmic Opera to create the ultimate electro night. Straight from the tables of Cosmic Opera, the party will feature sounds by NO_ID as well as DJ duo PeaceTreaty with support from Jared Berkey and Steven Lee.
Family of Steven Greenberg confirmed late last night that the nightlife mogul passed away Saturday after a battle with lymphoma. Throughout his extensive career he partnered with Ian Schrager, and co-owned hotspots such as the Palladium, The Roxy, Gramercy Park Hotel, and the ever-popular 230 Fifth lounge in NYC's Flat Iron district.
Greenberg was known for his multiple endeavors from dabbling in publishing with Fame magazine from 1988-1991, to a "scandal" with a carpet cleaning business. He even put the late Whitney Houston on the cover of Fame magazine during a time when celebrities (let alone African American ones) were seldom put on magazine covers. Nevertheless, the gamble paid off and the issue sold huge numbers.
