Beating The Beer Snobs With BeerText

If you can’t beat the beer snob in the group going on and on about the best stouts from New York’s Great Lakes region, now you can at least join them. Thanks to a new a service, BeerText.Us, you can find out about a brew ahead of time, skipping out on the embarrassment of not knowing what you ordered and risk spitting it out all over the bar.

BeerText is as simple as texting the name of the beer to (315) 679-4711. Moments later, check your phone for the beer’s history, ingredients, and alcohol content. The service beats scouring the web on your phone’s browser, and is super helpful for those with specific allergies.

Every Month Should Be 'Good Beer Month'

As many of you know, July is Good Beer Month. So make sure you ONLY DRINK GOOD BEER now and always, obviously. In fact, it was Mayor Bloomberg who officially proclaimed July to be Good Beer Month (GBM) back in 2009. Check out the slew of events happening this week and through the weekend in celebration of GBM. See a full list here.

Celebrating tomorrow, is South Street Seaport with a good ol’ beer fest. The museum is hosting authors, beer bloggers, and filmmakers that they consider to be changing the world of craft beer. The evening will include over two hours of beer tastings and discussions.

Drinking To Your Health

Drinking. Ah, drinking. All day. All night. You know what it does to you; how it makes you feel and act, however different from the recap your friends give. Conversations are better, and food is absolutely better. Health conscious drinkers may end the night with a series of drunken crunches, but why not take note of what you’re putting into your body instead of trying to make up for it with 3 or 4 lousy minutes of a painfully sobering workout?

Gizmodo’s certified nutritionist Maren Robinson took a look at the best and worse drinks for your health, while keeping in mind that any amount of alcohol consumption will have more or less the same effect on your night.
