HAPPENINGS
Trader Joe's Ex-President's Innovative Approach to Food Waste

If there is one thing New Yorkers think about more than real estate, it is food; and now Trader Joe's ex-President, Doug Rauch, is adding some more food for thought.

Thowing out perfectly yummy food is a sad, sad occurance to behold, and it happens all the time. Ever work in the food industry? At the end of the day, it is the heartbreaking duty of closing employees to dispose of leftovers (and often, they are bounteous). This isn't just our opinion, dear readers, it is a fact that one-third of the world's food goes to waste every year. In the U.S., nearly 40% of our food gets thrown out either at the farm, grocery store, or in our own homes.

DO-GOODERS
Say #NOMOREexcuses To Domestic Violence

“One in three women report being a victim of domestic violence; one in five women report being a victim of sexual assault” states the 'NO MORE Study,' conducted by GfK Public Affairs & Corporate Communications.

“60% of Americans, 15 years of age or older, know a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault. Among the 70% of women who have experienced domestic violence and told someone about it, more nearly 60% said that no one helped them.”

Mark Wahlberg Graduates High School

“I’ve got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight; I hope I don’t get in a fight. Ohhh, back to school…” Mark Wahlberg just aced the Billy Madison challenge: graduating high school as an adult. Congrats, Marky-Mark on earning your diploma via an online program, yesterday, Tuesday, September 17.

We guess Mark boogied one too many nights; It’s been 25 years since Mark Wahlberg has graced the halls of a school since departing from the 9th grade and ending his commitment to education (or so we thought).
