New York City eyewear guru, MOSCOT, collaborated with celebrated rocker, Myles Kennedy to launch The MYLES—a new sunglass inspired by Myles himself, for which proceeds benefit MOSCOT Mobileyes Foundation.
At The MYLES debut event, VIP's enjoyed viewing the frame as well as a live performance by Myles Kennedy featuring music from his upcoming album.
10% of proceeds from The MYLES purchased in MOSCOT shops and online will be donated to the MOSCOT Mobileyes Foundation, which provides free medical eye examinations and prescription eyewear to New York City's underserved population. Many will experience corrected vision for the first time in their lives, enabling children who formerly could not see the board to finally learn in school, and for adults to gain and/or maintain employment, taking care of themselves and their families. It doesn't take glasses to see how important this work is for our community!
Lest we forget that men need love and support just like the rest of us, Gentlemen’s Quarterly (GQ) initiated the GQ 2013 Gentlemen’s Fund to raise awareness for issues paramount to modern men and supports the charities that back these causes.
To raise money for this gentlemanly cause, GQ presents the first-ever Gentlemen Give Back Concert with a special performance by Robin Thicke, and music by DJ Ruckus, at the Highline Ballroom for one night only. GQue-up for this concert and become an agent of change for men around the world.
We all know those movies where the lead male or female ends up in a dating auction at some lavish event amid cocktails galore and beautifully dressed attendees, and we think to ourselves, “that looks fun, where’s my invitation?” Well, your invitation has finally arrived.
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope”. –Martin Luther King, Jr. This is the belief of Healthline as it recently partnered with the Timothy Ray Brown Foundation to launch a video campaign encouraging hope and giving advice to recently diagnosed HIV patients.
The campaign, entitled “You’ve Got This”, requires individuals to upload their videos to YouTube in which they try to inspire hope and provide useful advice to the recently diagnosed. They are encouraged to speak from the heart as they tell their own tales of when they were first diagnosed; their fears, reasonable and unreasonable; the best advice they can think to give someone recently diagnosed; and what helped them learn to cope.
On Thursday, September 19, 2013 the Global Youth Connect is hosting a wine tasting to celebrate its recent success implementing human rights programs in Bosnia and Rwanda this summer—so just for this, we can "mix" children and alcohol.
As if wine tastings weren’t full-bodied enough, the proceeds to GYC give the event an even sweeter finish. GYC is an organization that advances global social justice by encouraging young adults to become human rights activists. To empower these young adults, the charity offers cross cultural human rights workshops as well as opportunities to engage in volunteer service. GYC aligns with various grassroots, NGOs, policy makers, and other stakeholders to sustain international human rights activism.
Ok, free things are lucky, but we said this is the the luckiest 13th, and here's why: The Jillionaire and Walshy Fire will be DJ-ing the event.
The lunch party is free, however, if you can, take those couple of bucks you would'a spent on lunch and donate them to the on-site reps of the Food Bank for NYC--just $1 will feed five New Yorkers in need.
Tomorrow, join us for lunch and dancing, and take back a great story to your office (or class). Remember to RSVP, since that's the only way to reveal the location!!
