After announcing in March that she was leaving Brown University, (she stayed for less than 18 months) Emma Watson finally talks about her choice. The actress makes it clear that rumors of bullying and others' jealousy of her fame were simply untrue.
She fires back, “Anyway, even if I was being given a hard time, I wasn’t going to wuss out of university because someone said ‘Wingardium leviosa’ to me in a corridor, or ‘Ten points for Gryffindor,’...I’ve been dealing with the media since I was nine. If I can’t stand up to a few people giving me a hard time, it’s a bit pathetic, really. I’ve had so much worse.” Well-said. Hermione would have said the same thing. Seems like the tough years in the spotlight has given Watson more education than any school could teach.
The 21-year-old stunner states that the real reason for her early goodbye to the college deals more with her naive expectations. She did not assume the 'average college student experience' would be so difficult to come by. "I wanted to pretend I wasn't as famous as I was. I was trying to seek out normality, but I kind of have to accept who I am, the position I'm in and what happened", she explains. Emma still has plans to transfer to another university, though details are still unknown.
Now a worldwide superstar, Emma Watson has successfully, and lucratively, played the role of smarty-pants Hermione Granger for the past ten years in the massive Harry Potter book and film franchise. Calling the star’s childhood different from others is definitely an understatement, especially since she grew up in the public eye, in front of all the world to see as the years went by. How does it affect her dating life?
The star claims she's single, partly due to her busy schedule, and also the fact that she hardly ever gets pursued...of course excluding the occasional cheesy Harry Potter pickup lines: ('I have your wand from last night", "I found a couple of Golden Snitches right here!", etc...Gross.)
She guesses that her very public persona is basically the explanation as to why men are sent running the opposite direction. "It must be the circus that goes around me. Me, as a person, I find it hard to believe I would be intimidating...Sometimes, maybe...they feel they have to knock me down."
If anything, she can buy a good man, especially with that bank account of hers. We wish her luck in the all-too-familiarly-grueling search for Mr. Right
After a small appearance on the red carpet from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, Emma Watson is now currently in Pittsburgh. She, along with main star Logan Lerman from Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, is filming the movie adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s coming-of-age tale, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. With all this free time, at least she'll be able to perfect her American accent for the film.
