For anyone who thought the Royal Wedding back in June was the most buzzed-about wedding in 2011, think again. The Kardashians, who have come as close to a national obsession as any family can be, might take the cake from Will & Kate.
On Saturday, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries said 'I do' in a lavish ten-million-dollar wedding spectacular.
So where to start?
The 500 person guest list for the affair which took place at the posh Sotto Il Monte estate in Montecito, California included a lot of famous names such as Ryan Seacrest, Lindsay Lohan, Eva Longoria, and New York Knicks star Carmello Anthony and wife, La La, according to People magazine.
And then there’s the wedding by numbers:
- $3 million in I Do bling - $2 million for Kim’s engagement ring and a million for the couple’s wedding bands.
- $2 million on flowers and décor.
- $10,000 in invitations
- $750,000 to feed the 500 guests
- $15,000 for the wedding cake
- $60,000 spent on three Vera Wang dresses
- $400,000 in champagne
- $150,000 in hair and makeup for photo shoots and TV “home video”
The wedding spectacular obviously broke the bank, but not the bank of Kardashian. Almost everything was comped or extremely discounted as vendors and designers were eager to have their name attached to the Kardashian wedding.
And an almost-free wedding isn't all the Kardashians will get. The couple will rake in at least $15 million for the four-hour, two-part wedding special, Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event, that will air on E! in October. Plus, People paid $2.5 million for the exclusive rights to the wedding photos, which was racked on to the $300,000 they paid for the exclusive engagement announcement. Britain’s OK! Magazine paid $100,000 for exclusive rights to bridal shower pics and details. And even the bachelorette party at Tao in Las Vegas earned Kim a cool $50,000.
All in all, the couple has reportedly raked in a jaw dropping $17.9 million from the wedding festivities.
