TMZ has obtained two videos of rap star Kanye West assaulting a photographer outside of LAX. Police are investigating the scuffle between West and the cameraman. The investigation shouldn't take long as there are two clear pieces of evidence which you can watch below.
The victim was taken to the hospital following the attack, suffering minor bruises. Although he was injured, the photographer wants to press charges for attempted robbery, as opposed to battery, since it's the more serious offense. West was attempting to pull the camera out of the man's hands. As a result, West has been named a felony suspect in the incident, which will be referred to the L.A. County D.A.'s office for possible prosecution.
This is just another in a long line of run-ins that West has had with the paparazzi. Yes, they may be vultures, but when you react like this, they ultimately win. Kanye says it himself in the video, "What you're trying to do is get me in trouble... so I have to pay you, like, $250,000." Well, the photographer succeeded, and now West may have to.
A couple of celebrities have weighed in on the situation via Twitter, both of whom showed support for Kanye's actions, and thus condone violence as a means of solving problems. Actress Kirsite Alley tweeted, "I love that Kanye went all whack on that asshat Paparazzi...too bad he didn't whip his ass with his hat! GO KANYE!!" (Note: no one is wearing a hat in this video). After a fan wrote back to Alley, "you're just saying that because you hate them lol," the actress responded, "that is true ..:)..I applaud anyone who takes a swing at em."
Singer, Cher, also threw out her support to Kanye. She tweeted, "DEAR KANYE,THANK U,4 TRASHING THOSE LOATHSOME PARASITES,WHO STEAL OUR MOST PRECIOUS GIFTS,'TIME & PRIVACY' WE CAN NEVER GET THOSE BACK!" In all caps nonetheless, so you know she means business.
