Amanda Bynes Competent to Stand Trial in DUI Case
Actress was originally supposed to appear in court September 24

A Los Angeles judge has decided that Amanda Bynes is competent enough to stand trial for DUI charges stemming from April 2012, when she had a run-in with a parked police car. The actress was originally supposed to appear in court on September 24th, but her lawyer stated she was unable to comprehend the charges she was facing. Her lawyer then asked her case to be reevaluated by the mental health court.

Bynes has been on an involuntary psych hold since July after she started a fire in her neighbor’s driveway. Her mother was awarded a temporary conservatorship over her but eventually withdrew from it so doctors could make the best decisions about her treatment.

The actresses next court date is set for January 7.
