The Sundance Film Festival is quickly approaching, and this year is brings with it one of the most anticipated cinematic lineups in the festival's history. Joonbug is happy to announce that we will be at the festival, which is celebrating its 30th year, to give our beloved readers all the deets, and provide with due diligence a succinct review of the standout films from the pool of 117 independent features being presented, as well as 11 documentaries.  Some A-listers that are expected to be seen, include the likes of Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Susan Sarandon, Aaron Paul and Sam Rockwell. Already, a few films have garnered much attention from the media, and we have previewed those for you below. So if you find yourself curious to see them first hand, join us in Park City Utah! We'll have some hot chocolate waiting for you. 


Ping Pong Summer

Set in the 80's, a maturation story about a ping pong junkie teenage boy named Rad Miracle on a family vacation. Written and directed by Michael Tully and staring Oscar winner, Susan Sarandon, this film follows the journey of a misunderstood adolescent.










They Came Together

This New York City based romantic comedy takes us into life of a Jewish man his clumsy leading lady as they dive into a whirlpool of love. Written by Showalter and Wain, and featuring comedy darlings Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler this is not one to be missed.










God's Pocket

This film is best described as a drama of a man who is trying to cover up the hidden truth about his stepson's "accidental" death, while his mother searches to unveil the buried answers. Debuting director, John Slattery ("Mad Men") completes this film with a  superb cast including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Richard Jenkins, "Mad Men" co-star Christina Hendricks, and John Turturro.










Starring Breaking Bad's, Emmy Award winning, Aaron Paul and directed/written by Kat Candler, we are taken into the world of a broken family with the youthful characters rebelling. Jacob is a teenaged boy obsessed with motocross, and his little brother Wes is following in his brother's rebellious footsteps. The two are taken to live with their aunt. This is a story about a family’s quest, to learn consequences for their actions.










A father grieving over the lose of his son  discovers the music he wrote before passing and decides to create a rock ‘n’ roll band, ultimately changing his life forever. Pop sensation and Disney star, Selena Gomez joins an exceptional cast including the  Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, Felicity Huffman, Laurence Fishburne and William H. Macy.
