If you haven't already checked out the exhibit at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), you still have time to do so! It has been open to the public since Sept. 13th, and will be until Janurary 4th. What's more? Admission is free for this must-see.
A Queer History of Fashion: From the Closet to the Catwalk visits the contributions of gay fashion designers, such as late the late and great Alexander McQueen, as well as, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Gianni Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier and more .The exhibition showcases approximatley 100 ensembles that range from 18th-century menswear styles to 21st-centruy high fashion. This is the first ever exhibition to solely explore fashion made by LGBTQ (lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender-queer) icons throughout the past 300 years. Some of the pieces focus on androgyny, idealism, and controversial design that may be considered ethically unacceptable, with esthetics ranging from drag, to leather, to uniform.
Just when we thought it wasn't possible for our sneakers to get any cooler, we heard about the latest Puma Black Label Alexander Mc Queen Collection. Influenced by English medieval fashion; armour, corsets, metallics, mysterious graphics, bold details all infused with modern design. This line clearly is a style statement all in itself. Created for both men and women, you can wear these sneakers as your main fashion focal point or be ultra-creative from head to toe using the McQueen sneaker as your guide. How you style it - is up to you! Much like the freedom of expression McQueen represents, the possibilites are endless. This collection pays homage to the design direction of the iconic British fashion house.
Take the practicality of ballet flats, add sleek details or outrageous features, and you have a more refined version of the classic shoe. Smoking slippers are quickly replacing everyday flats as the go-to shoe for stylish women on the go. Like their predecessor, the different routes you can take when selecting your pair of smoking slippers are endless; below are four of the main categories of the new shoe trend!
Classic: Smoking slippers in simple designs with basic fabrications and small yet lavish details are perfect for the woman who wants to keep her shoes as sleek and chic as possible. These shoes by Yves Saint Laurent are the perfect example; with a slight heel and a metal cap toe, they are simple yet stylish. Giorgio Armani and Prada's versions of the simple smoking slipper are other examples of a classic shoe that stands out due to their fine details and sophisticated look.

With the unofficial start to summer behind us, we want to make sure that you guys are prepared for anything and everything that summer can bring. To make sure your ready to endure anything Summer 2012 can send your way, we have put together these 10 items to help you get from now to Labor Day.
1. The White Jean
Summer is the only acceptable time when a man can get away with a white jean but with so many out there it can get a bit confusing when it comes time to buy one. You have to stick with a true white, no eggshells or off-white will do. Since the color is already a bold choice you have to keep your choice of fit simple. The best choice is a straight leg jean that will show off the junk in the trunk while still giving you enough room to breathe. The white jean will definitely make you stand out in a good away amongst all the other guys in regular denim.
Avant-garde fashion is certainly not the norm. Modern, bold, and sometimes unusual; it’s an artistic take to fashion that is anything but boring. Pieces are often regarded as being unique, innovative, and abstract. Most designs in this category are not really wearable, unless you have a red carpet event to attend. Check out our top favorite avant-garde, yet totally wearable pieces- now if we can only come up with an excuse to wear them!
Aurelie Bidermann Long-Spike Necklace $1,345.00

That’s right ladies, we said it, extreme color is a DO for summer. Dip-dyed locks, brightly dyed roots, and radical ombrés were all over the runways. A fun (and temporary) way to incorporate this trend is by using hair chalk. We suggest Kevin Murphy’s COLOR.BUG which is available in colors including purple, orange, and pink. Buy it here.
