Famed fashion house Balenciaga is known for designing bags synonymous with rocker chic, as their pieces are usually adorned with studs, buckles and zips. However Alexander Wang’s first accessories collection for the company is a far cry from the brand’s classic pieces.
The 2013 Fall collection, aptly entitly ‘Le Dix’, has been stripped down to encompass simplistic details and high quality leather; along with it comes an equally high flying price. The name of the debut collection has a special meaning for the brand. Wang has stated, “Le Dix refers to the original address where Balenciaga was founded...It was also the name of the brand’s first fragrance. It was only natural that this heritage also be translated into a bag for this first collection."
And you can get your hands on the designs today as they hit stores worldwide…if you can afford the $995-$2,250 price tag that is!
Reining it in from past seasons of embellished brights and quirky colors, ready-to-wear is taking back black and white is tagging along for the ride. Jil Sander and Narciso Rodriguez class it up, while other top designers like Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang move toward the edgier side of the contrasting colors.
Alexander Wang—a designer way ahead of his time if you ask us. Who could possibly forget the grand finale of Mr. Wang's Spring/Summer 2013 show during Fashion Week back in September? If you happened to miss it (shame on you) all of the lights shut off and well...the whole collection became glow in the dark.
Now that spring fashion is here, the Fashion Week pieces have hit store s and we are ready to indulge in the coolest Alexander Wang designs to date. If you follow fashion then you must know optic white has stolen the show from the beloved black-on-black dressing. So, with Wang’s glow-in-the-dark collection you will be #trending in white during the day and become the "it-girl” at night. Tell me who can take their eyes off the girl who is glowing in the dark at the party?
Exotic skins such as crocodile and python have always had a glorified place in women's fashion but only recently have these skins crawled their way into men's fashion. Accessories made out of crocodile-like skin and crocodile-embossed items have become standard in the menswear shows. Croc is a great way to enhance your look with a luxe element while also making a bold sartorial statement. Read on to see how to incorporate some croc into your look from cufflinks to full on crocodile bags. As always, we recommend opting for more environmentally friendly "faux" croc over the "real thing."
White is the New Black
What do you wear when you have nothing to wear? The go-to, monochromatic, sartorial fallback of an all black look, of course. This season, designers (literally, almost all of them) have presented a “brighter” option for our old monochromatic standby, showing head to toe winter-ready white in the form of chic eveningwear, tailored pantsuits and everything in between. Lyn Devon goes super sweet and retro chic with a modest angora sweater and tea-length duchesse satin skirt. Cushnie et Ochs offer winter white separates as sleek tailored trousers paired with a sheer collared top make the trend as seductive as their curve-hugging dresses. Alexander Wang doesn’t disappoint with his edgy twist, detailed with pearlescent fringe and black fishnet stockings.
