Restaurants all over the city are raising funds for the Red Cross and various other Sandy relief efforts. Several are donating a portion of their proceeds while others are acting as hubs for collecting canned goods, cleaning supplies and even clothing. Here are a few spots to grab a bite that will surely do some good for those devastated by last weeks storm:
Tonight, Monday, November 5th, Anejo’s Chef Angelo Sosa alongside Jen Carroll, Kevin Sbraga and Dale Talde will prepare a meal at Anejo Tequileria in Hell’s Kitchen to help raise money for the Red Cross. The dinner will include four-courses (one from each chef) with cocktail pairings by Beverage Director, Joshua Wortman per course.
Attention winos: Millbrook Winery will be having its 21st Annual wine-centric event on October 15th! And to step it up a notch, Chef Angelo Sosa (Top Chef, Top Chef All Stars) will be whipping up some to-die-for food. Working alongside Bull & Buddha (Poughkeepsie, NY) restaurant, Chef Sosa will be preparing tasty dishes to pair with some classic Millbrook wines.
Head to the Hudson Valley when the leaves begin a-changin' and try out the meal that is crafted around the wonderful Fall season. What can you expect to be eating and sipping on? Check out the fab menu below!
A few season ago, Angelo Sosa was thisclose to winning Top Chef. And while that didn’t happen, his flair for exotic updates on Southeast Asian food (and his flair for unfashionably tight jeans) has remained in our memory.
Finally, a chance to sample some of Sosa’s spicy eats is available to Angelenos (completely accidental pun, here) at SmithHouse Tap and Grill. Sosa’s presence elevates the space from standard pub-style food and the 100+ beers on tap don’t hurt the experience either.
Hubba hubba. Cute? Check. Successful? Check. Smart? Check. Able to cook? Check. Single? Hope so.
Okay, so this blog is not all about super hottie Chef Sosa (but damn, who isn't weak in the knees for men who can cook?) it's actually about something bigger and more important...the love for food.
Well, this man, Angelo Sosa, restauranteur/chef and Top Chef runner-up, is the brainz behind the kitchenwork at the rave-reviewed restaurant, Social Eatz.
The eclectic menu can be described as "mouthwatering", "like a drug", and "orgasmic." After hearing these bizarre yet curiosity-inducing reviews, we decided to check the place out. (Plus, we're complete foodies--bad characteristic for beach body season!) The restaurant was modern, well-furnished, had a mixed crowd, very busy but-not-overwhelmingly-loud-where-you-can't-even-hear-the-person-next-to-you, had a friendly staff and most importantly, had a well-stocked bar. We decided to order the most rave-reviewed menu item: the bibimbap burger.
Xie Xie sandwich shop opened this summer, and if you haven't checked it out yet, now is a better time than ever. The new daily special offers up an Asian inspired sandwich and beer for only $5 between 3pm and 7pm. Choose from sweet glazed pork, Vietnamese bbq beef, and shredded braised chicken. The sandwiches usually cost about $9, so not only are you saving money on the tasty buns, you get a beer too! The tiny shop also has a big name behind it- Chef Angelo Sosa (protégé of Jean-Georges) is heading the project, so it's definitely worth stopping by.
