Forever one of, if not the most unique and well-known band to ever grace dance music with its presence, Above & Beyond have continued to push their sound upward and outward into the farthest reaching corners of the industry, both through their own releases and through those of artists like Arty and Mat Zo on their world-renowned Anjunabeats imprint. Now, Above & Beyond have greeted 2014 in their own special way, celebrating the label's 300th release with their latest single, 'Hello.'
Bruce and Nick of Norin & Rad have had quite the success over the past two years. Between their family at Anjunabeats and their new project with Andrew Bayer, Artificial, the two have been keeping busy performing as well as in the studio. Just this month, the two released their latest tracks 'Thundercat' and 'That Was Easy.' Joonbug recently had the chance to catch up with Norin & Rad, as well as get to know them a little better.
How did you two meet and decide on your names?
Be sure to check out the latest tunes from Norin & Rad below, just released on Anjunabeats this month.
Today at 4pm EST/1pm PST, Vice's THUMP channel will premiere the full length concert film of Above & Beyond's acclaimed acoustic project. Following the release, Above & Beyond will be on Google Hangout at 5:30pm EST/2:30pm PST.
This feature-length concert film exposes the great backstories and performances from Above & Beyond's acoustic shows at London's Porchester Hall last summer. At these shows, the guys Jono, Tony and Paavo, perfromed their greatest hits as part of an impressive 15 piece band. Following the success from their London shows, the guys ended up recording an acoustic studio album and brought over these performances to LA's Greek Theater, which was decribed by Billboard magazine as, "one of the finest and more memorable shows in EDM history."
This past weekend, Florida hosted the Damage Control Tour as it hit Miami, Gainesville, and Tampa. Mat Zo, along with support from Norin & Rad, delivered quite a performance, and were lucky enough to witness their takeover in Gainesville, home of the University of Florida Gators. Proving that they can handle any college crowd, the three held nothing back as they took control of Simon’s Nightclub, which has also seen recent performances from Bro Safari, David Avila, Hook N Sling, and Sound Remedy.
Mat Zo's current Damage Control World Tour will make its way down to Florida this week along his string of 24 U.S. tour dates, taking the stage at LIV Nightclub on Thursday November 21 with an opening performance by Anjunabeats label-mates Norin & Rad. In support of his debut artist album release Damage Control, released November 5 via Astralwerks (U.S.) and Anjunabeats (UK), his current world headlining tour will bring his highly anticipated big room dance sound to one of Miami Beach's most extravagant nightclubs and devoted EDM dance crowds.
As the visuals cast a dark shadow around Tony and Paavo, their iconic trance style began to emanate from the speakers and through the multi-leveled crowd. The catalyst track, Vic Sky's "Time For Love," was first to break the silence. And surely, the love was present.
Eager to embark on their night's anticipated musical journey, fans of the UK group, or band as they often like to refer themselves, began to dance as the atmosphere livened up to heights unseen thus far in the night. As the duo began to transition out of the intro, songs like Amoda' s "Fuzztone" and Paul & Luke's "Fable 2008" began to drive the tempo and pave the way for more upbeat tracks like "Audien" by Wayfarer and "Easy" by Mat Zo and Porter Robinson, both of which were released on Anjunabeats.
