Last night, BlackBook Magazine celebrated their milestone 15th birthday. That's fifteen years of blazing trails and featuring killer covers with a-list talent. A huge feat for a publication that has made it through the .com crash, recession and are still going strong. The festivities were held at the new Dream Downtown's PH-D rooftop lounge. The evening was sponsored by Tequila Don Julio and Heineken and featured music by Neon Indian and Das Racist. Special guests (outside of the birthday boys and girls) included Alexander Skarsgard, Kristin Bauer (True Blood), James Ransone (The Wire) and Estelle. The giftbags were stuffed with all sorts of goodies from Armani, Elizabeth Arden and Swarovski. Pop Chips (as usual) were also included. (Is it me or are Pop Chips taking over the world?)
Starting this September, get ready for The Bajan beauty and fashionista, Rihanna to hit a magazine stand near you. Emporio Armani has tapped Rihanna to front the fall-winter 2011-2012 Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans ad campaigns.
Rihanna is replacing actress Megan Fox, who was the spokes model for Armani for one season. The fashion line has worked with Victoria and David Beckham, and also Cristiano Ronaldo in the past. The singer was shot on location in New York by Steven Klein and the campaign will launch in September worldwide.
Rihanna has impeccable style, Armani made the right choice! We cant wait to see how the ads come out. We're sure they will be FIERCE!
Five years ago you wore your shirt tucked in. That is when stripes were fashionable and the checked shirt was still something cowboys paired with Stetson’s (or an item you wore when cutting up wood in a forest!). Then a few years ago, the shirt started to be worn slim fit and tucked in. Next it was paired with a tie. And now we have... no tie! So simple... so...minimalistic.. So... why did we not think of that before?
Everyone from Armani and Calvin Klein through to Dries Van Noten and Patrik Ervell demonstrated this trend for summer. Some designers offered the trend paired with a suit, others opted for a cardigan whilst a few went for the shirt alone. In all cases the top button of the shirt was firmly done up.
Protecting your face from harmful UV rays is just as important as picture perfect makeup. Your face often gets neglected when it comes to sunscreen application, but the intense rays of the Miami sun are not to be ignored! UV rays reach some of the highest rates in the nation in Miami, but you're in luck because we've got some products and tips that will give you the perfect look while protecting your skin from harmful sun exposure.
Often times, sunscreen products are oily, abrasive, odorous, greasy, caky, or thick. Reasons like this lead women to avoid the use of sunscreen products on their face. While no one wants to walk around looking like a frosted cup-cake or a glazed donut, there are ways to protect your skin without the mess.
Megan Fox is full of surprises. Who thought that she couldn't get any hotter?
In the new Armani Jean campaign, she goes topless and shows off some tattoos. The one on her shoulder reads "We will all laugh at gilded butterflies" and the one inked down her side says "Those who danced were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."
The new Armani campaign brings Fox a new accomplice, tennis player Rafael Nadal who poses in his own ad for the brand's jeans line. He replaces football player Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Spring/Summer 2011 campaign was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
Are you sitting down? You better be because the Cristiano Ronaldo for Armani ads have just been unveiled. The Portuguese soccer star is taking his turn in modeling Armani underwear. The ads are going to be shown debuted in Milan this week. Take a look! He is flawless!

The week seems to have raced by as my mind is still stuck somewhere back around Tuesday. I tend to enjoy weeks like that because it means that I mentally arrive at the weekend as it's starting, rather than daydreaming about it three or four days before. So, as it turns out, my week was rather packed with this and that, but I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend on Long Island. A rest from the pace of Manhattan is much needed, especially as the weather gets nice. And, as I will be on the Long Island Railroad for much of tomorrow, I will leave you with just a few suggestions for the weekend, but we will keep the pace slow and sirene as we gear up for Memorial Day in a couple weeks. Alright my little Joonbugs, let's get ready to romance the weekend, and I hope that you will find a little romance in your life as well!
How's it going over on the West Coast? Oh how I wish my little Joonbugs could join the Joonbug staff here in New York for PROM Class of 2010 at Espace on 42nd Street just off of Times Square. Our Events Director, Staci, and our PR Manager, Paige have been working hard in the bustling Joonbug office all week and have outdone themselves on what is sure to be a smashing event. So, in the theme of formality and sophistication, I am choosing your weekend guide in the spirit of Prom, everything from the dining to the dancing and of course, what to wear. So, my little Joonbugs, enjoy your weekend and let me know how it all goes.
