Between Ben Swardlick, Eric Luttrell, and Andy Coenen, there is an immeasurable quantity of combined creativity and ingenuity behind what goes into The M Machine. Whether it's creating incredible, genre-transcending music or designing spectacular visual installations and effects, The M Machine continue to be a group that explores the vast reaches of musical space to find new and unimaginable originality in their productions. Having closed the door on their two-part Metropolis album with a widely diverse remixes EP, the trio usher in the next chapter of their musical campaign with 'Superflat.'
Since it's reopen in fall of 2003 (formerly known as The Palace), Avalon has remained a fixture in Hollywood's music and nightlife scene. Known for its mindblowing acoustics and state of the art soundsystem, ironically crafted by the owner John Lyons, the AVALON series EAW Sound System will bring beats from some of the best DJs and performers (anyone from The Rolling Stones to A-list DJ Erick Morillo) to your ears.
Aside from Avalon's own reputation for its performances and the Control, After Dark, Tiger Heat, and Avaland party, the super hip club Bardot is on the second floor, with parties running Monday through Saturday, and A-list celebs popping in and out constantly.
656 Avenue of the Americas (at 20th Street)
It began as a church. And then it became Limelight - a place synonymous with parties, music, drugs and dancing. When Limelight's doors closed, then re-opened as Avalon, and then closed again, the neo-Gothic church took on a gloomy feel. Devoid of late-night party-goers, the venue just seemed abandoned.
But now all is about to change. The Limelight Marketplace has moved in. Under its vaulted ceilings, the marketplace will hold an array of goodies. The ground-floor level will offer caviar, olive oils, breads, meats, cheeses and condiments. For sweeter treats there are many options to choose from - running the saccharine gamut - from little chocolates to pop in your mouth as you peruse, to candies, cakes, brownies, cookies and frozen options. The vendors include: MarieBelle Sweets, Mari's New York, Butterfly Bakeshop, Cupcake Stop, It's Sugar, The Little Candy Cake Company, WannaHavaCookie, Baci Gelato and Jala Frozen Yogurt.
