Embellished Necklines: Decorate Your Décolletage

We love to accessorize as much as the next girl, but when we saw the embellished necklines designers were showing on their F/W 2012 runways we couldn't help but feel a touch of excitement. Fashion heavy-hitters like Marni, Christian Dior, and Givenchy showed an array of jackets, tops, and dresses featuring necklines adorned with jewels and ornate embroidery alike.

Defeat the Heat: Our Favorite Foundations for Summer

Makeup that can last through the heat and humidity of summer is crucial. And sometimes the foundation we use during the winter to moisturize our skin, may not balance well with summer weather and can unfortunately leave us with blemishes or excess oil. Mother Nature isn’t always on our side and even those of us with the clearest complexions can face the negative effects of summer weather. So the last thing we need is for our makeup to fail us too, right? We here at Glam Damn It have found a few great foundations that are perfect for summer use and won’t leave your skin feeling heavy or looking cakey. Check them out and choose the best that suits your skin!

New is Our New Favorite

While the popular Madison Avenue location gets a makeover that benefits in-store shoppers, those who prefer to shop at the click of a finger can now reap the benefits of the store’s newly revamped e-commerce site as well. Just launched on Monday, is full of consumer-friendly features designed to create a “completely dynamic and very emotional experience.”

Secondary to brick and mortar locations in terms of revenue, the e-commerce site is the fastest growing channel and one Barneys sees opportunity to improve and capitalize on for future growth. It’s part of a grand strategic overhaul spearheaded by Barneys CEO Mark Lee. By creating a cleaner aesthetic to highlight featured merchandise, optimizing navigation, and simplifying the online shopping process for registered customers, Barneys hopes to engage loyal online consumers like never before.

The Fashionista's Guide to NYC's Best Shopping Displays

As cliché as it sounds- it’s the most wonderful time of the year. Even scientifically speaking- shopping produces endorphins- our happiness drug; is there any other time that we shop more than just before Christmas? That, paired with the out-of-this-world adverts kindly created by NYC classics like Henri Bendel and Saks Fifth Avenue, have us practically eating out of the palm of their deliciously gorgeous, string-lit, ornament-strewn, hand. But before any holiday purchases are made, some window shopping is in order. The window displays of NYC are a little piece of magic created intricately for anyone who still believes in Christmas. And while yes, it’s a ploy to get you inside, you can still enjoy the beauty for what it’s worth- and maybe score some incredible stocking stuffers (Think Bendel bangle or Serendipity-esque gloves from Bloomies).

Latest Obsession: The Cape Coat

We've definitely been obsessing over capes this season. We're not sure if it's their chic versatility or the fact that it's a cape and sorta superwoman-ish, but either way, we love them. One problem I seem to be running into (perpetually) is, of course, liking the most expensive capes on the market. Who else has this problem? When you walk into a boutique do you always make a beeline for the most expensive items in the store? Yep, guilty.

One cape I'm absolutely in love with is Alexander McQueen's belt wool turtleneck cape. Like most McQueen pieces, it's exquisite and so heartbreakingly expensive beautiful it could cause you to cry yourself to sleep at night. At $2080 and sold out, even if we wanted to dip into our savings for this one, we couldn't get our hands on it. So what's the next best thing? We're glad you asked! If you want to get the look, but don't have $2k to dish out here are a few options:

Carine Roitfeld At A Glance

(Definition courtesy of

It has been said that those in the fashion tend to take the industry, and themselves for that matter, far too serious. Such images that come to mind would certainly include the iconic high-power, jet-setting editrix type. Fresh off her 10-year stint as Editor-In-Chief at Vogue Paris, one of the most prolific and influential fashion publications in existence, Carine Roitfeld, shows that she too has an irreverent side when it comes to fashion.
