BCBG Max Azria: Sleek Boho Chic

BCBG Max Azria is most definitely a Joonbug fashion favorite. The pieces are both fashion forward, yet very wearable in the city. We here at JB also enjoy sharing our experiences with those that read our columns. If you have ever wondered what it's like to sit in a VIP area at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week -- we have the inside scoop just for you!

American Express returned to Lincoln Center with the exclusive American Express Skybox, where cardmembers experienced the week’s most exciting shows in a premium Cardmember Lounge perched high above the runways. Before the presentation, guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast from a menu curated by FOOD & WINE®, another member of the American Express family. Delicious menu items in the American Express Skybox featured a roster of well-known chefs that are included in the October 1st release of the FOOD & WINE™ Best New Chefs All-Star Cookbook. Over the past 25 years the magazine has helped launch the careers of hundreds of chefs, and is celebrating this milestone by highlighting a superstar Best New Chef from each year like Thomas Keller (’88), Tom Colicchio (’91) and David Chang (’06) in this new cookbook. The food was fabulous and attendees cheered the runway show with tasty mimosas. A great way to celebrate Fashion Week, we might add!

NYE Style: Women's Edition

Ah, New Year's. A time for us all to decide which party to go to and which friends to party with. Should we head to NYC to watch the ball drop? Should we go skiing up in the mountains? House party with some close friends? The decisions are endless, as are the decisions on what to wear. Everybody wants to look glam, damnit, and it can be hard to know just how to pull off that special look. Well, we are here to help. Here are some options to make your decision-making a little more easy.

Make-Up: First and foremost, the right makeup on New Year's Eve is so important. No one wants their eyeliner to run or their lipstick to fade as the night goes on. Make sure you start with a primer to keep that make-up lasting into the wee hours of the night. We like Benefit's That Gal Brightening Face Primer ($29) so give those cheeks an extra glow. If you're going for a bold lip, there's nothing better for NYE than Susan Posnick's Coloressentials line ($19). The lipsticks come in fun, bright colors and is super moisturizing and shiny, plus it's very compact so can fit into the smallest clutch for touch-ups. Make those eyes pop with Lashfully's Lash Appeal Kit ($38). The kit contains two sets of eyelashes with adhesive and tweezers and will provide the most natural and lusciously long lashes for you to don. With the most essential make-up musts out of the way, it's time to move onto what to wear.

The Look: Eyewear Fashion Trends

Just in time for the upcoming Breast Cancer Awareness month, ClearVision has partnered with BCBG and is offering special BCBG "Courage" frames where 20% of retail sales will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Beyond that, eyewear industry leader, ClearVision Optical is now offering styling suggestions on how we can wear our optical and sunglasses with our clothing choices! With the ever-changing trends out there, I know many of us wonder what specs and sunglasses compliment which fashions - now we have the answer. They originally began showing the men how to wear their shades and eyeglasses — now, they've created “The Look” for women, too.

Cute and Corky: 5 Wedges to Own This Season

With so many shoes to love, it's just too difficult to pick a favorite pair. But with the upcoming warmer weather on its way to a city near you, we thought we might offer you some advice so you can put your best (looking) foot forward. Here's what you need to look for when you're out shopping for the perfect sandal.

Wedges are always big for warmer weather months, just like boots are big for chillier weather. Much like pattens and geometrics were spot on styles for tops, bottoms, outerwear and dresses on the runways in the fall, patterns and geometrics are strutting their stuff - again - but this time on your feet!

A Dress' Greatest Rival: The Jumpsuit

As the holidays approach us our minds become wrapped around the usual; eggnog, gift shopping, office parties, and how many pieces of fruit cake will I put away? Before you go shopping around for the perfect holiday dress, consider a jumpsuit instead. Yes. That’s right, jumpsuits are not reserved exclusively for summer. Many of our favorite designers have just the right jumpsuit to flatter your figure and leave room for comfort. Whether you’re attending a special occasion or ringing in the New Year with friends these select five will suit just about any event.

Stylizer: Movie Night for Fashion Lovers

Whether you were into kinderwhore or hypercolors, the 90’s were an exciting time in personal fashion. Not everything always made sense (ultra low rise jeans, anyone?) but it was certainly always interesting.

Naturally, the films produced during that time reflect this smorgasbord-aesthetic. Every girl remembers the first time they saw “Titanic” or “Clueless”. We remember sobbing with our friends at the end of “Cruel Intentions,” cheering on the protagonists of “Pretty Women” and “A League of Their Own,” and having our jaws drop during the adrenaline needle scene of “Pulp Fiction.” While these films are not exactly all Oscar-winners, they have stood the test of time in a different way. The reason it was so easy for us to jump right into the worlds of the characters was due to the flawless work of their costume designers.

Get The Look: True Grit Star Hailee Steinfeld Aces Summer Neutrals

The True Grit star stepped out looking gorgeous in an all nude ensemble for the Miu Miu presents Lucrecia Martel's "Muta" in Los Angeles earlier this month, and we can't get her outfit out of our minds!

The 15-year-old beauty kept her look sophisticated and chic by pairing pieces in different hues and textures of nude. She sported a Miu Miu dress featuring a playful embellished "Peter Pan" collar with Miu Miu nude patent leather pumps and a golden Prada clutch.

So, imagine our surprise when we spotted this copy-cat in a cool white version on on sale for a meager $51.72!

Hope for Shorties

Unfortunately for the short folk, maxi dresses are in. I'm 5'3" (shortay) and I've always wanted to pull off a maxi dress.

When style queen, Carrie Bradshaw, was seen in Sex and the City sporting a maxi dress oh-so-fabulously, there seemed to be hope but then I remembered I don't work out three times a day like she does and have the ittybitty waist with the curves, which makes her look taller than she really is. [not fair] Some shorter women look beautiful in maxi dresses but I look completely awkward and shortened. Is it just me?

First U.S. Joie Boutique Debuts Today on Madison Ave

Joie, a contemporary women’s line, is set to open the doors of their first ever U.S. flagship store today on 1196 Madison Avenue between 87th and 88th Street.

Based out of Los Angeles, the company embodies bohemian classics like flowing maxi dresses, linen pants and strappy leather sandals. The company began in 2001 with its luxurious cargo pant which has become a staple in their line. In 2007, Joie was purchased by Serge Azria, brother to BCBG’s designer Max Azria, and continued to infiltrate the market by incorporating a footwear line and the more casual but ever chic Joie Soft line. The new boutique will be carrying all lines.
