The Skinny

The Skinny is a political comedy talk show with a twist: The host, Peter DeGiglio, is just an average schnook struggling to wrap his head around the events that shape our world. Joining him is a discussion panel of real life experts and a plethora of wacky variety acts.

V.I.P: VERY IMPORTANT PARTY
Jaguars 3 Opens with Chuck Zito, Paulie Gualtieri

Last Thursday, Brooklyn got a little more interesting with the grand opening of Jaguars 3. The spot, which looks like a throwback to the party lifestyle of the '70s (minus the disco ball), is a hybrid of sorts. Jaguars 3 is part nightclub, part restaurant, and part cabaret. After visiting this new establishment, I can honestly say Sunset Park in Brooklyn will never be the same.

After a doorman greets you on the makeshift red carpet, you enter the club to a roar of prerecorded elephants, (an ivory dealers heaven...) along with some ceramic apes ready to greet you. After a bamboo covered elevator ride up, guests have 3 choices of rooms to visit: the nightclub/lounge, the restaurant, or the cabaret.

THIS JUST IN
Christian Louboutin and...the Cabaret?

That's right, you heard it here first!

Master of footwear, Christian Louboutin, is gearing up to collaborate with famed Parisian cabaret Le Crazy Horse, to not only outfit the dancers in his signature red-soled shoes to mark the line’s 20th anniversary, but also serve as “Guest Creator”’ for a brand new show for the review!

And this seemingly unlikely duo actually makes quite a bit of sense.

Louboutin's creations have reached cult status in the 20 years of their existence, and are arguably one of the most recognized footwear brands to date. Further, he's mastered the art of the high heel's power of sexuality, in both the obvious and the subtle. One wears his shoes to seduce and be seduced. With some creations boasting 6+ inches in height, towering platforms, and a bevy of rather scandalous embellishments from spikes, to chains and straps, to fur, one could certainly consider Mr. Louboutin's designs fetish couture.

Have a Jolly Holiday

December is here, and with it comes snow, Santa, menorahs, and good holiday cheer! Partake in these fun wintery events that are sure to warm you up and give you something to talk about on your days off by the fire.

The Feast of Seven Fishes - Patsy's Italian Restaurant will be hosting a magnificent Italian feast, running from December 16th- 24th. Derived from their legendary recipes, Patsy's Feast of the Seven Fishes will include a choice of calamari salad or baccala salad, a half-order of linguini with frutti di mare sauce, along with a choice of shrimp scampi, stuffed calamari, shrimp fra diavolo, or tilapia livornese. Dessert takes the feast to another level, with a choice between homemade strufoli (honey balls) or homemade biscotti. The feast will be $59.95/person and it'll be well worth it!

AUDRINA PARTRIDGE
The Best of LA With Allison

The Vermont Restaurant & Bar
Rockwell VT
1714 North Vermont Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90027

If you think you know the Vermont Restaurant & Bar, think again. With its brick walls, leather booths and adjoining lounge bar, the Vermont represents old school Hollywood. A couple of years ago, The Vermont was a different restaurant, a ghost town. Now it's LA's new hotspot. So what changed? For starters it got new ownership. In June 2009, Chris Diamond and Wayne Elias (previous owners of Mark's on LaCienga) took over the Vermont and gave it the jolt it needed. A new chef (Stephane Beaucamp), a new menu (I'll get to that in a second), a new edition, The Rockwell, VT (a hip outdoor bar & lounge located in the back) and a Cabaret Show (put on by the Upright Cabaret) gave The Vermont the makeover it needed.

CABARET
Le Bernadin Goes Cabaret

Eric Ripert spits on your Mother’s recession. Le Bernadin is the next in line for the Zagat Vintage Dinners (where New York restaurants create a meal inspired by the great cuisine of the 19th century) and is, perhaps the most exciting. Look at this description floating around the Interweb:

“On Monday, March 9th, Chef Eric Ripert will transform the Salons at Le Bernardin into a turn-of-the-century Paris cabaret for a black tie soiree complete with dinner, dancing and general frivolity. Donned in period attire, the staff will serve revelers a candle-light champagne dinner, while performers sing a repertoire of French cabaret tunes.”
