Friday evening, the graduates of the Ascension Culinary Institute are inviting you to join them for their 6th annual fundraising dinner, from which all donations will be put towards the continuation of the culinary institute. Besides learning how to cook, students of the Ascension Culinary Institute build confidence, camaraderie, and develop a taste for new things, a taste which they will share with guests over the course of dinner prepared by all of the new chefs.
Set to be held inside the Church of the Ascension, the evening's festivities will begin with a cocktail hour of wine, beer, champagne, and appetizers at 6:30pm, followed by dinner and an entertainment program at 7:30pm. For the evening's full menu listing, which includes a variety of entrees and Creme Brulee for dessert, click here, and RSVP with a personal donation here.

JoonBug joined the many environmental enthusiasts of the city who dressed in their best ‘Downtown Safari’ attire on Wednesday, January 29th 2014 to honor The African Rainforest Conservancy’s 23rd Annual Artists for Africa Benefit at the Bowery Hotel. Starting at 6:30 PM that night, over 200 guests gathered in the Bowery Hotel’s party room including Cassandra Seidenfeld, Renee Adrienne Smith, Bravo’s Shah’s of Sunset star Mercedes “MJ” Javid, Bravo TV star Chanel Omari, and model Morgan O’Connor.
The Golden Age of Hollywood is back and it’s staying at The Roosevelt. Ops manager Jarrett Stuhl and his team have put together Jazz Nights at The Roosevelt, a four-week limited engagement featuring live jazz, delicious cocktail specials, and the ol’ one-two punch of oysters & ambience. With eight separate outlets for food and drink at the Roosevelt it’s hard to stay in one spot, but step into this lobby any Tuesday night this month and prepare yourself for your first truely beautiful experience of 2014.
We definitely love a good party, so this year my must-go party for Art Basel belongs to the Perrier-Jouet cocktail party hosted by none other than Soho House. It doesn't get any better than the Soho House in South Beach in the Tiki Garden.
The famed champagne brand has teamed up with Art Basel to become its official champgane for the festivities. A yummy tasting of Perrier-Jouet will be a delight as flutes will be dangling on the "Enchanting Tree". This feature will embrace the nature theme throughout Art Basel as well as enchant guests.

We picked out some of the best new punches and found you the recipes. That way, you can try them at home or at the bar. Here are our top five from the emerging punch revolution.1. Fishhouse Punch Royale
You may not be able to get this at the bar if you're a New Yorker (unless you find yourself suddenly in Seattle), but this recipe highlights the long tradition of punch as interpreted through a modern lens. The original version of this colonial-era recipe was said to be a favorite of George Washington. Try this tweaked concoction, re-vamped by mixologist Jamie Boudreau, of Canon in Seattle.Ingredients
There is something undeniable about champagne, whether you like it, hate it, can’t have brunch without it; bubbly tickles your nose and makes everyone feel incredibly posh. Who doesn’t want to feel like a million bucks as they raise a glass to the past year on New Year’s Eve?
Drink up before you break those New Year’s resolutions—you’re celebrating the coming of a new year! Here are 3 fabulous (and affordable) artisanal champagnes that were recommended to us by our hometown wine boutique, Down the Rabbit Hole in Sayville, NY. Long Island may be a trek for those in the five boroughs but we suggest treating yourself to a bottle of champagne outside the typically common bottles of bubbly at New Year’s Eve festivities. Visit your local wine boutique and they’ll be sure to pour you in the right direction of champagnes worthy of welcoming 2013 in cork-popping style. While you're choosing bubbles for NYE don't forget to plan an unforgettable night and choose from a variety of different parties here.
This is important. If you find yourself eyeing a couple of hostesses carrying a rather large box to a VIP table, you may want to take your chances and follow their lead. What they may be carrying could very well be the worlds largest Rosé champagne bottle.
The 15 liter Nebuchadnezzer of Armand de Brignac Rosé will get you drunk. Sharing it with twenty friends will get you drunk. A fresh and full bodied wine, “synonymous with summer” claims commercial director, Philippe Bienvenue of Armand de Brignac.
What am I drinking these days? Well, a lot less than last month, that’s for certain, though a few spectacular glasses of wine have passed my lips and ended somewhere in my midsection. It comes with the territory working in a wine shop, for which my greedy palate is forever grateful.Yesterday I was taking down our holiday window display and a glass of Tarlant Brut Nature Champagne NV made its way into my hand, and let me tell you that perked me right up. I went from doggedly taking down those holiday ornaments to practically dancing in place as soon as I tasted that first crisp, ginger-lemon sip. There’s a beautiful floral nose to this wine that I couldn’t quite pinpoint. Jasmine, maybe? Smell it for yourself, and perhaps you can indentify that elusive scent. Made with equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, this champagne has a great energy to it, while at the same time it has a little funkiness on the finish that could really be complemented by food. It retails for around $75.
