Mules Make a Massive Comeback

Back in the day wearing mules signified social status. Because they could simply slip off one’s foot, workers couldn’t wear the shoe, but the privileged males and females who didn’t work, showed off their heels in these backless beauties. Today, wearing mules won’t say much about your social status, but it will denote a certain level of style. Many of the world’s hottest designers are re-establishing the look for today’s fashionistas and we are getting on board!

Thanksgiving 2011 Style Guide

Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the winter holiday madness known for being the most stressful time of the year. For a majority of women, a big part of that stress is often related to choosing the right look for holiday get-togethers. Dressy or casual? Clutch or bucket bag? A sweater dress with tights or a blouse and trousers? Maybe scrape the whole thing and get a new look from head-to-toe? And this is before we even throw accessories into the mix!

The Global Fashion Awards Best Dressed

WGSN held their 2nd annual Global Fashion Awards honoring fashion elite from all over the world last night. The event was held at Gotham Hall in New York City and select attendees came in the masses for the black tie ceremony and dinner. The event was hosted by fashionisto and personality Robert Verdi and some of the notable attendees included Anna Sui, Peter Alexander, Charlotte Ronson, and Liam Gallagher. While the night was focused on who was winning what, one of the most exciting features of the night was who was wearing what. So let's get to what it was really all about --the fashion in the room! Of course everyone was dressed to the nines (as you can imagine), but here are a few major standouts that really made an impression.

5 New Scents We've Fallen For

It's finally Fall! Officially. The slight drop in temperature and the right amount of crisp air tells us it's here! Every fall season, we resort back to our favorite scents; scents which stick with us forever and remind of this beautiful time of the year. There's nothing quite like autumn in New York City. Lots of spices, apple, warm vanilla, pumpkin and cinnamon make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We've come across some scents that are right on par with this holiday season. Enjoy!

2. Beyonce's Heat Ultimate Elixir: Has the smell of honeysuckle, musk, sensual sequoia, and just an overall warm feeling scent! We were pleasantly surprised. Go to your local Macy's for this Elixir.

Dressing for Fall, Literally

With the popularity of the legging-boot combo, wearing dresses for Winter and Fall is not only realistic, but a great way to add variety when you seem to be constantly reaching for your comfortable jeans --or God forbid, sweatpants! (Side note: we are in fierce opposition of sweatpants, for the record.) So how do you stay warm, comfortable and stylish? The answer is knee-high boots, tights/leggings and a dress. With these styles, you may get through the winter without ever slipping on a pair of pants. Here are few of our on-trend, comfortable and warm picks.

Lost In Space

They say fashion trends are cyclical, but the reappearance of this fad is even more surprising than the return of 80’s fashion! Behold, the Moon Boot. Maybe it was Russia’s announcement of the upcoming Space Hotel; whatever it is, outer space is in again.

7 years ago, in 2004, The New York Times declared this puffy footwear as the next big thing. That same year, Marc Jacobs sold over 9000 pairs, but they then went out of style as quickly as they came in, disappearing from collections and wardrobes alike.

This season, fashion giants Jimmy Choo and Chloe are both offering pricey options for those willing to give the look a second go. Jimmy Choo’s come in a variety of colors, ranging from black to leopard print and will run you a whopping $695. While Chloe offers fewer choices, with only two types of shearling, they retail for a comparatively reasonable $525.

Pretty Pleats

Calf length, floor length, or above the knee -whichever length you decide is right for you, the pleated skirt is a clothing staple this summer. This season we are viewing the skirts in cotton, silk and chiffon in a multitude of shades from citrus brights through to muted neutrals.

The best example of the latter is the nude, sheer chiffon number, seen on the catwalks of Chloe's S/S collection. For a wallet friendly version, Zara has a gorgeous nude/cocoa, calf length style in chiffon. Anne Klein also has a classic, flowy nude style. For those looking to add color Club Monaco's light and breezy cotton style is a great option. The lemon shade adds a pop of color whilst keeping the style easy to wear for daytime.
