Viva Agave: Happy National Tequila Day!

Tequila might te-kill-ya, but it is nonetheless an important staple in anyone's drinking repertoire. That is why today we celebrate National Tequila Day (Cinco de Mayo just isn't enough tequila!). In honor of this boozy holiday, we are providing you with a fantastic list of bars around the city offering up delicious tequila-based cocktails. And for those who can't make it out today, there's even a DIY cocktail recipe. Cheers!

A.G Kitchen, the new Upper West Side restaurant by lauded Executive Chef Alex Garcia, looks to Southeast Asia for inspiration when crafting the Thai Me Down, which stars tequila infused with pineapple and Thai basil. The drink also incorporates fresh pineapple juice, fresh lime and green chartreuse – an herbal liqueur made by monks.

Make Your Own Bloody Mary

This weekend, The Redeye is starting a new DIY dining option, Make Your Own Bloody Mary, that will be offered at 11:30 am on Saturdays and 12:00pm on Sundays. You won't enjoy a boozy drink as much as if you put your own blood, sweat, and celery stick into it! Once you begin the dining option, you will receive a mini carafe of homemade tomato juice for two garnished with Old Bay Seasoning on the rim and a celery stick, two glasses of Ketel One Vodka, two jumbo shrimp, and everything in-between.

Touch of Class in Your Glass

When throwing a cocktail party, a great way to add excitement to your typical drink selections and cut costs is by introducing a signature cocktail. Remember to make a big batch before your guests arrive and set out the glasses you want to serve the cocktail in. Once your guests arrive, all you need to do is pour and serve. Having a signature cocktail will also allow you as the host/hostess to enjoy your own party. Here is a sophisticated cocktail using pear-flavored vodka.

Cool Cocktail on Hot Desert Night

In the Heart of Las Vegas there is an intimate cocktail room and speakeasy called the Downtown Cocktail Room. This is a much respected cocktail bar with seasonal menus and amazing hand-crafted cocktails. They have one fruity concoction of cachaça and strawberries which is very good. Thanks to Tasting Table a recipe was adapted for one of their cooling cocktails, 817 on Main so we could all have one or more than one.
