Telling James Franco to be quiet is about as easy as making children eat their vegetables. Good thing in both cases, they manage to stay adorable and our sappy hearts would forgive them easily.
Coming from the unexpected success of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Franco stopped by Conan O'Brien's late-night talk show (TBS) Tuesday night to have a little chat. Topic of choice? His acting career, first and foremost...and also his brief encounter with potential amateur porn.
Those lucky enough to be out in San Diego this weekend have a few excuses to brave the heat. Coinciding with Comic Con, the Museum of Conan Art is hosting a special exhibit of fan art, courtesy of TBS. The Fine Art of The Flaming C is a collection of the most popular art of Conan O’Brien’s super hero alter ego as voted by fans online.
The Flaming C was invented when Conan O’Brien while visiting the Warner Bros. animation studio and having a chat with Bruce Timm , the character designer, artist, co-creator and producer of Batman: The Animated Series. Timm, one of the founding fathers of the DC Animated Universe which brought comic book characters to the animated world, followed Conan’s guidelines and drew him a hodgepodge of a hero. The Flaming C, armed with an oven mitt and oversized spoon, quickly became a hit on TV and the internet. Art of The Flaming C began to spring up overnight from both professionals and amateurs.
In honor of Comic Con and The Flaming C possibly getting his own animated short, the Museum of Conan Art is featuring the best of what Conan fans have to offer. Created specifically for this weekend, there will also be art of The Flaming C created by Nathan Sawaya entirely out of LEGO bricks. Fans will also be able to enjoy a green screen experience where they can put themselves in photos with The Flaming C. Visitors will participate in a paint-by-numbers collective art piece which will be displayed at the weekend’s close. All visitors will get a free poster of The Flaming C while supplies last and are eligible for limited edition T-shirts and other prizes. Fans who check-in via Foursquare will receive a limited-edition pin and will be registered for a chance to win a trip for two to Los Angeles to see a taping of CONAN.
Everything is right with the world again! Conan O'Brien is back with his new show premiering tonight on TBS!
These past few months have gone by slow ever since the comedian quit NBC's The Tonight Show during the uncomfortable Leno battle. Now its time to welcome back the laughs and perhaps even an insulting comic dog and inappropriate bear with Conan.
Rumor has it that our favorite redhead will be bringing on guests such as Glee's Lea Michele, comic actor Seth Rogan and Jack White as the musical guest for the first show.
More A-list celebrities maybe stopping by for tonight's 11 p.m. premiere, including a mystery guest. We don't care who it is though, just as long as Conan's back.
