Last week, Hearing Health Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to finding a cure for hearling loss, hosted An Intimate Evening with Cyndi Lauper at B.B. King Blues Club in NYC. Richard Kind served as the comedic MC for the evening and guests enjoyed a silent and live auction, tasty bites and a cocktail reception sponsored by VEEV Liquor. Co-chairs for the evening, Natasha Boucai and Victoria Orlin presented a speech about the foundation and Foundation Executive Director Andrea Boidman talked about the foundation's recently launched Hearing Restoration Project, which aims to find a biologic cure for hearing loss by working on cell regeneration in the ear. A heartwarming tale was shared by Jennifer Harrington, a friend of the foundation, who spoke about her journey with hearing loss.
As the holidays approach many of us go home to our families to enjoy feasts and festivities. It's easy to forget that some people are not as fortunate. This year Stonehenge Partners has teamed up God’s Love We Deliver for the ‘Nuts About Giving’ food drive which includes a 'Thanksgiving Basket Build Day.'
The organization is in need of 8 ounce cans of nuts for their food drive. They have committed to collecting 2,200 cans of these nuts for this year’s Thanksgiving baskets and they need your help to reach that goal. Volunteers are also needed for the Build A Basket Day, which will be held on November 19th in the God’s Love We Deliver West Village facility. Other participants in the drive include Polo Ralph Lauren, Citi Group, American Express, Audi, and Johnson & Johnson.
Cyndi Lauper, born Cynthia Anne Stephanie Lauper, was born on this date in Queens, NY; Gaga, step aside, let us look at a truly outrageous icon. Voted one of the 100 Greatest Women in Rock n' Roll by Vh1, Cyndi has catered to the likes of many artists , and has inspired many pop acts with her bubble gum hit Girls just Want to Have fun in the 80's.
Today, she is in Bridgewater Hall, Manchester promoting her Memphis Blues Album; something far more soulful than the usual pop. No bubble-gum today just cake and champagne.
Speaking of parties, check out the Aspen Social Package on Joonbug's Party planner. Moet Champagne, birthday fiasco and of course Joonbug! Did I mention, Champagne?! ;)
Hello Gang!
Well its been quite a week here in Spencerland !
Sunday’s event at Marquee was sweet and sexy. A private celebration of different lingerie apparel companies and stores hosted by Intima Magazine. When I was booked to DJ, I thought the event was going to be a little naughty. Oddly enough it was probably one of the most sophisticated crowds I have DJd for in a long time. The majority of the guests were women of all ages and they all had a lot of class. From Chanel suits to Cartier watches, even some of their bras were 'blinged out.'
Our raucous glitter gulch is about to get a little more glamorous. Bare Pool Lounge, located in the Mirage, is introducing a brand new, weekly LGBT dance party. Starting just a month from now, March 20, Bare Pool will go through a seductive metamorphosis to become Heaven, the outdoor nightclub more fit for sinners than saints.
"Heaven has a new address, and it's Bare, Saturday nights," says Eduardo Cordova, creator of the other popular dance series, The Closet Sundays at Revolution, as well as Heaven.
After 10 years of booking the hottest DJs for the hundreds of parties and events she has planned, Claudine DeSola's passion for music has manifested in an extraordinary way. We are lucky enough to host Claudine DeSola's first DJ Performance at Joonbug's Fashion Week Gala, this Saturday, February 13th. There, she will present her fashion inspired playlist, which she comprised by asking top designers such as YEOHLEE and Adam Lippes, what music sparks their creativity when designing their collection. Claudine's exclusive 30 minute set called "Inspiration Played" will appear on www.caravangirl.com and www.joonbug.com after its premiere at Joonbug's Fashion Week Party.
The celebrities are becoming fashion designers to raise money for the HIV and AIDS awareness campaign. Dita designed a white cropped tee with a woman’s face on the front of it. In her photoshoot, she paired the shirt with bloomers, fishnets and gloves to be in sync with her demure style. Katy Perry designed a tight body suit with a smiley face inside a heart.
American Boy singer Estelle created a tee with the words “Life is too short... have sex… be safe,” on it. Cyndi Lauper used a play on the hit song that made her famous to create her shirt: “Girls just wanna have safe sex.”
The sassy new line hits H&M stores May 28.
