Bassnectar Bringing Big Noise to Palladium Ballroom

The signature sounds of Bassnectar will fill the walls of Palladium Ballroom next month, when the genre-bending DJ rolls into town on his Divergent Spectrum tour. Joined by Ana Dia and Superdre, the night promises to be a celebration of diverse beats and crowd interaction.

Bassnectar, whose real name is Lorin Ashton, spins everything from dubstep to punk rock remixes. The Santa Cruz-based artist is just as active socially as he is behind the boards, as he's been a longtime supporter of the Concious Alliance, an organization that brings food to the needy.

A: "Growing up, we all went to a lot of hardcore shows and we knew the kids, including us, had a lot of fun going."

With a background training in classical music theory and contemporary styles, tyDi is one of the biggest talents in the electronic world. In 2009 and 2010 he was listed on DJ Mag Top 100 DJs. In 2010 tyDi received the award for "Best breakthrough DJ" at the International Dance Music Awards in Miami. Jones explains: "My heart was so touched by this organization it motivated me to help them and try to help many others. I formed the June Jones Foundation with this in mind."

Overcoming tragedy by taking the runway, event coordinators London Langston, Etiera Ashford and Brittany Albercrombie have put together a charity fashion show tackling the prevention of gun violence by showcasing some of Dallas’ own aspiring models, designers, and other young entrepreneurs trying to make it in the industry.

Each of the ladies have been the victim of gun violence in some form and this Thursday, June 16, 2011 they will shine light on such a dark, grim trend that has yet to die. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased by contacting Etiera Ashford at (469) 693 - 0697. Even if you can not attend donations for the cause would be greatly appreciated.

Hunter Hendrickson Brings Raw Energy to the Local Stage

If you are looking for an amazing live show, look no further. Dallas’ own Hunter Hendrickson, the 19-year-old guitar sensation has been honing his craft for years, and it shows! Born in Dallas, and playing guitar since his early teens, Hendrickson is certainly on his way to becoming a true homegrown rock and roll staple. For several years, he has been drawing crowds, and earned the respect of his fellow local musicians, not only with skillful guitar playing, but showcasing his original singer/songwriter chops as well.

His live performance is nothing short of jaw dropping. With certain riffs reminiscent of Cream, to masterful solos that he makes completely his own. He combines rock and blues, with modern day grooves that sets him apart from the masses. He is truly a unique talent. Hunter's band performs as a a trio featuring Jerry Saracini on drums and Dave DeShazo on bass.
