Up and coming designer Danilo Gabrielli hosted his launch party on March 15th at Yotel in celebration of his Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. Among the party goers were friends, editors, models, and journalists, all there to congratulate the talented designer. Two of his models were in attendance, showcasing his exquisite designs, inspired by 1940's Old Hollywood glam.
The event was sponsored by American Airlines, who was there raffling off free flights. DJ Phoecus provided beats while artists painted fashion portraits for guests. But the real highlight of the night was getting to chat it up with the man of the hour himself!
Coming off Fashion Week we are both exhilarated and exhausted. What a huge season, not only for the designers, but for us! We worked around the clock, resulting in our biggest, most extensive fashion week ever. We covered a combined total of nearly 100 runway shows and parties over the course of the week. We also attended the Fashion 2.0 Awards, Socialyte.co's Bloggers Brunch, Elle & Style360's Accessory Lounge, and CFDA's IMPACT exhibit. If you're wondering if we've slept, the answer is "No!" In addition to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, we also covered NOLCHA, also known as Independent Fashion Week. There we discovered standout, lesser known designers who have been flying under the radar; including Danilo Gabrielli, Vassilis Zoulias, and JetSet Collective.
Last night, Italian fashion designer Danilo Gabrielli, took our breaths away with his Autumn / Winter 2012 collection at Nolcha Fashion Week last night.
The lights dimmed as a violinist grabbed our attention from the runway, setting the tone for a crisp, clean, and classic collection. Gabrielli makes it known that his true inspiration derives from classic Hollywood and his newest line shows just that. With a 1940’s flair written all over it, there is no question what the Italian designer seized to accomplish. An ode to an era when women joined the workforce, Gabrielli reminds us of how far we’ve come in the world of women and fashion. Silk blouses, skirt suits, and trench-like-jackets in warm neutral tones of grey made up a majority of the runway. Models with soft pin curls, deep side parts and bright red lips stole the show as they strutted down the runway looking as classy as ever.
