DVF Designs Another Set of Hotel Suites

Back in 2010, the fashion designer extraordinaire debuted a series of 20 Diane Von Furstenburg-designed suites for The infamous Claridge’s Hotel in London.

More recently DVF has lent her stylish expertise to Australia’s acclaimed private-estate, Hayman Island Resort, where she’ll soon unveil her two-bedroom penthouse suite.

The penthouse will include all DVF-designed furniture and fabrics, a free-standing stone tub, an American Oak four-poster bed and a grandiose terrace with sweeping uninterrupted views over Australia’s sparkling blue ocean and a lush tropical landscape.

And The Winner Is...

Last night, CFDA, Council of Fashion Designers of America, announced the 10 finalists for the 2011 CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund. For 8 consecutive years, the CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund has provided support and encouragement for emerging American designers. This year's winner will receive $300,000, a chance to design a capsule collection for the fund's head sponsor J.Crew, and mentorship from individuals highly regarded in the American fashion industry. CFDA Nominations Are In!

Wednesday night was the stellar CFDA nominations - right after Diane Von Furstenberg was re-elected another term for the organization - as some of New York's most popular young designers came out to celebrate at Diane's design studio for a cocktail gathering.

Some in attendance were: Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung, Michael Kors and more.

Diane von Furstenburg Pre-Fall 2010

"A Kate Moss It Girl" may be the appropriate words to sum of Diane von Furstenberg, no? The creative team may think so, saying that this season's girl goes to Glastonbury - where Moss obviously knows the real fun is. DvF was filled with apparel that reminded us of a summer night, upon first glance - yet, with full recognition of the leather vest, wool blanket jackets and peacock-feathered trim cardigans, we are actually hoping for either exciting mix-and-match challenges next fall (with warmer designer apparel) or for it to be a warmer winter - to wear the metallic shorts DvF also had lined up in her pre-fall bevy. We die! However, like always, the collection is has a cutesy spin to it - and for once, we thrive on the days when Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port pretended to have a say in what goes on with the label.

Beautiful Braiding

Braiding each other’s hair is a favorite past time of many girls. Well, ladies, it’s back. Designers were chic and simple with braids that were either loosely flowing, or tightly twisted. Pick your favorite and make it your staple hair-do for the upcoming season.

For a loose braid, follow Alexander Wang’s look and pull it off to the side; or follow Kimora Lee Simmon’s Baby Phat models who have a single braid across the top of the their head, with their beautiful locks flowing behind it. Put away your crimper, and go old school with Diane Von Furstenberg by braiding lots of strands into your hair and taking them out—creating a wave.
