It’s hard to make great records greater, but Melbourne-based producer, Swick, has done just that with his remix of Savage Skulls & Douster’s record TRT. Swick takes the record to new heights, adding a sickening lead, a plethora of hi-hats, and an absolutely insane drop! The Swick remix is one of four tracks on the EP that has a little something for everyone's taste. Grab the free download of TRT (Swick Remix) below and be sure to pick up the EP via iTunes here.
Today has been a huge day for Dim Mak Records, having released two of their most dynamic tracks to date. If you read our previous article about the label, you’d know they recently signed their first-ever hardstyle artist, Coone, and today released his debut single, “Times Gettin’ Hard.”
Now it’s time to set our focus on Tritonal and 7 Skies, who teamed up to produce an energy-inducing, electro-house track called “RESET” (see below). Not only is this their first collaboration, but it is also their first release on Dim Mak Records. Parts of the track make you feel like you’re in a videogame, while others are quite reminiscent of Nicky Romero’s “Toulouse.” We’d never expect an electro house banger like this from Tritonal, as the duo generally sticks to trance, but we’re excited to see more artists step away from thier comfort zone. Experimentation is good, and it’s even better when producers successfully blow us away with their newfound sound.
Steve Aoki, one of the coolest long-haired DJ’s you’ll ever meet, brought the name, “Dim Mak” to life when he founded the record label back in 1996. As an electro-house producer and DJ, Aoki's record label is heavily based on electro-house artists, such as Angger Dimas, The Bloody Beetroots, and Felix Cartal. But Dim Mak doesn't stop there; Aoki is an extremely open-minded guy and welcomes any sound that is out of the ordinary. This explains why the label also extends to genres such as dubstep, drum and bass, moombhaton, and electronica. With artists like Datsik, Infected Mushroom, and Dirtyphonics under its belt, Dim Mak has done a great job covering its bases.
One of the most recognizable and energetic names in the realm that is dance music is Mr. Steve Aoki. The bossman of Dim Mak records is making a stop at the luxe LAVO NYC nightclub this Thursday, Oct. 18th and in proper Aoki fashion some ritual cake throwing may occur or better...a casual stage dive.
A leader in electronic dance music established in 1996, Aoki has a pretty sweet tracklist of production and remix work. His recent album, Wonderland, features top talent such as LMFAO, Wynter Gordon, Laidback Luke, and Lil Jon. While he is a hybrid producer his DJ sets are just as chaotic and filled with gripping progressive and electro beats.
Listen below to his recent set on Electric Area to get a taste of what's going to go down this Thursday!
