Just three weeks away, Halloween is going to creep up on us any minute! If you're stuck in a rut and can't decide on a costume--have no fear! Below are five easy DIY costumes you can put together with stuff that's probably already in your closet!
1. PSY: Okay, so "Gangnam Style," went viral via YouTube and frontman, Psy, is a fun appraoch to a Halloween costume DIY! This should be a big one this year for guys or girls! All you need is a baby blue blazer, a black bowtie, and black shades! The hardest part of this costume will probabaly be the dance you'll have to learn to go with it!
Now post-fashion week, biggest event(s) of the year in our book, we’re looking forward for the next excuse to bust out more ‘costumes’. Almost two weeks ago we called Fashion’s Night Out the fashion equivalent to Halloween. Stylists, bloggers, socialites, and more came in droves dressed to impress in the season’s best for a citywide party that rivals All Hallows Eve. Barely recovered from that spectacle, we find ourselves again spending weeks upon weeks planning what to wear on this one sacred evening. If you’re like us, you want to think outside the box and create that special costume that no one else will be wearing but everyone knows instantly. Following are a few fresh ideas—but make sure you check with your fellow Joonbuggies; no one likes to be caught a “Who Wore it Best” moment.
If you thought Jersey's ongoing presence in the media couldn't get any more paramount - think again. HBO's newest series, Boardwalk Empire, marks yet another show that encompasses tales of the Garden State. This prohibition-era program, however, pays homage to the Jersey Shore in a much classier - and less shameless - way than our favorite GTL'ers from MTV.
Scorsese fans and HBO enthusiasts alike tuned in to the premiere in late September, and were quickly enthralled by wardrobes as eye-catching and mesmerizing as the eerily nostalgic cinematography.
If you're showing up to a Halloween party with a group, you may as well make an entrance. Wow the crowd with one of these awesome DIY group ensembles. Not only will it be a great memory for your friends, but it may help your fellow partiers steer you in the right direction when you have a couple cocktails and seem to have wandered away from them. Remember safety in numbers!
-Break out the spandex, a few pounds of white and black face makeup and get ready to rock! You and three of your friends can easily achieve the look of the original Kiss members. I don't think anyone would be naive enough to ask you, "What are you supposed to be?," but this get-up is certainly not for a bunch of wall flower.
While we're tossing and turning at night, brewing up the perfect wardrobe for the eeriest holiday of all, our favorite celebrities make it look effortless year after year. They always have the cutest costumes to wear to the hottest parties. While they're great to admire, they most likely cost an arm and a leg, involve a stylist and makeup artist, or both. Thus the notion of recreating their looks seems menacing. But not to worry! The team at Joonbug has found a silver lining, and it lies just a click away, in the virtual racks of Forever 21.
