Spring has finally showed up and what better way to celebrate the beautiful weather than with a night out at the club? This weekend, Gansevoort Park's Red Room hosts two of the City’s up and coming DJs, both transplants from California and NYU alums, John Hamilton and Rhett Bixler.

With a stage presence that resembles some of the greats, a talented ear, an ambitious attitude and a humble personality—John Hamilton is working his way up in the dance music scene. This Sacramento native and NYU grad has opened for the likes of Steve Aoki and TV Rock. He has also turned heads at The Belvedere Music Lounge alongside Tiesto, Dada Life and Nervo during Miami Music Week. In addition to playing the college circuit, Hamilton has headlined countless venues throughout NYC such as Santos Party House, Pink Elephant and WIP.
Behind the decks and behind the scenes, Blaze Carreras is all about style. It’s no wonder Corona asked to feature him in the booth for their latest ad campaign. From open format to progressive and electro house, the man knows how to read a crowd and give them what they want. His talent has landed him residencies in some of South Florida's hottest night-spots such as Wall, FDR, Wet, and Living Room, as well as tours across South America. The Venezuelan producer caught up with Amanda Mesa, our Miami contributor, before a show at Vibe Lounge in Fort Lauderdale to talk about his inspiration, beginnings, and love of music. She decided to do this one Q&A style, so enjoy!

Let’s say you have a limited amount of money, or perhaps no money at all, but you’ve already gotten it in your head that you’d like to have a few drinks. Glancing over at the jar of loose change, you refuse, as you should, to settle for a 40 oz. from the bodega on the corner. So you start to scroll through your contacts for a fully stocked fridge, err, friend, but wait! Here in New York City, at any moment, on any night of the week, exists an extraordinary phenomenon known as an "open bar," and it’s only a matter of knowing when and where.
According to The Lodown, after Monday night's CB3 liquor licensing meeting, the committee has approved five new restaurants. Forsyth Street's Grotto team was given the go ahead with their 303 Broome Street restaurant and lounge venture, "La Gente." The lounge aspect will be located below street level with DJs spinning no more than three times a month. The team also agreed to soundproof the venue in order to avoid noise violations and complaints.
161 East Houston, formerly Spanish tapas "Oliva" is becoming a Mediterranean restaurant. Unfortunately, the CB3 comittee denied the restaurant a request to extend their hours of operation. Due to the denied request and a noise complaint filed by a neighbor this new spot will only be a day eatery.
Having toured the world with his music and founding Reason Clothing at the age of 18, DJ Price is already an entrepreneur at an age where most people are searching for work out of college. His resume includes performances with Slick Rick and LMFAO, as well as appearances on Good Day New York. It doesn’t hurt that hip-hop heavyweights like Kid Cudi and Maino rock his clothes on the regular. Whether its behind the boards or manning his own business, the young superstar can only grow from here.
This NYC-raised DJ grew up with two generations of musicians in his father and grandfather, so it’s only natural that he’s been mixing old and new music of all genres. Before hitting 21, Lino Meoli has played for and alongside a slew of major artists, from Alicia Keys to Mos Def. Having established himself in Paris and currently doing a residency in Tokyo, DJ Lino has become an international star before being legally allowed to do some shots.
November is all the rage at 116 MacDougal. There are events up the wazoo happening at this historic venue and there is a 2-for-1 happy hour every night until 9pm (even during events). Whether you're into LOLing, poetry readings, singing till you have no voice or listening to others sing till they drop, there is an event (or two, or three...) for you at 116. Mondays: Hit up Gaslight Refueled (8pm) for live stand-up comedy with funny peeps from Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, NBC, and more, with host Vicky Kuperman.
Tuesdays: Hit up Open Mic (6pm) where the legendary Gaslight stage plays host to singers, poets, comics, and storytellers with host Manoo Halati.
And by the way, these certain artists are females. The sexual, but deviant, title they hold, gives off the vibe of an evil Cruella Deville meets the Wicked Witch of Snow White. Their name may sound sensual and poisonous, but their DJ skills on the turntables are lethal. Not to mention their eye-catching, eye-popping, urban style that meshes well with their soulful, jazz feeling and hip hop sound.
In this fashionable pack of females, their independent nature of being DJs and producing music ties in with their style. Where do these sizzling musicians get their style from? From the Fire engine red lipstick, the infamous, iconic Adidas jacket, which has been rocked in hip hop for over twenty years and their rocking sneakers, fashion really can be comfortable and not so painful. So toss off a pair of heels, slap on a pair of Nike Oceania black sneakers, that black Adidas jacket, a pair of those favorite black jeans and head straight towards La Femme Deadly Venom's sight.
The party was first supposed to be at Good Units, it moved to Williamsburg. This is the second edition of Dark Disco. Their main goal is to bring newborn talents with famous djs at the same party.
They won't only satisfy your ears but your eyes too. This is going to be one of those nights with great djs mixing with hudge screens behind them. I like this concept because it strangely doesn't disturb your focus on the music.
