As New yorkers brave the cold and eagerly await a blissfull spring, a slew of your favorite stars gathered across the pond for the 2014 Brit Awards, which took place in London on Feburay 19th, and Glam Damnit is bringing you the bes dressed of the evening including Beyonce, Kylie Minogue, One Direction, and Katy Perry.
With love having been so recently in the air, Ellie Goulding decided she would spread the love with an exclusive "Goodnight Valentine" mix for Annie Mac Presents Free Music Mondays. The almost hour long mix contains a variety of sexy and sultry hip-hop, R&B, and electronica. Tracks include everything from Mariah Carey to James Blake to Big Sean to The Weeknd, all hand picked and mixed by Ellie Goulding herself. What stood out most from this mix was the very last track, 'Because,' her latest collaboration with Skrillex.
Our first playlist for New York Fashion Week 2014 consisted of an eclectic mix of jazzy tempos from the likes of Gramatik and pop favorites from Lady Gaga to Bruno Mars. This second playlist features a more sultry collection of sexy female--but not limited to--vocals riding deep alongside euphoric basslines. Runway music oftentimes have the quality of being deeply mysterious, alluring and seductive, which are the key factors that helped shape this playlist. Like fashion, old tunes never go out of style. This mix consists of old and fresh new tracks that will have you bumpin' to your playlist en vogue.
Max Vangeli is a force to be reckoned with. Whether he’s climbing the dance charts with a signature remix of Ellie Goulding or Switchfoot, working with fellow DJs Tiesto or Steve Angello on a hot new club anthem, or jet setting around the globe from venue to venue, there’s always an elemental passion to every aspect of his persona. We recently had the chance to connect with Max via email to get some thoughts on his new single/collaboration with Danny Ray, “Grim”, which he just released January 27th on SIZE records, what kind of song inspires a remix & why he just can’t get enough of the road.
How did the collaboration with Danny Ray arise?
Danny has been a friend of mine for years and we finally just came up with an idea together and ran with it. It was a very smooth collaboration and I’m very happy with the outcome!
Spring Breakers, set to hit theater nationwide on March 22nd, follows four party girl best friends on their ambitious quest to have the most epic, balls-to-the-wall spring break possible. In an attempt to save up enough money to get out of their boring college dorm, they hatch a plan to burglarize a fast food joint after a wild night of partying. They make it to spring break paradise only to have their plans come to a screeching halt when the girls, wearing only bikinis, are arrested on drug charges. Hungover and scared when they appear before the judge, an infamous drug and arms dealing rapper, Alien (James Franco), bails them out of jail. The foursome’s freedom comes with a catch though as Alien takes them under his wing, expecting the girls to carry out his dirty work in return for his good deed, leading them onto the craziest vacation they could’ve ever dreamed up.
So what that it's Monday?! I like to think of Mondays as a good day. Mainly because my first thought every Monday is that my life may drastically change (in a good way), and that I had an entire weekend to discover new music. With that said, the playlist for this week is dedicated to cover songs! Sure, these songs are already killer in their original form but we've rounded up some seriously talented artists that put a new spin on each song. You'll hear an amazing mix of melodic Dubstep and Trap, RnB, and overall, just straight up good music.
2. Timeflies- Glad You Came
3. The Weeknd- High For This (Ellie Goulding Cover)
4. One Republic- If I Lose Myself (Colin Cover)
We are all guilty of having a case of the Monday's every once in a while. When your gearing up for the weekend ahead, it's best to accompany those thoughts with some energetic tunes. This week's playlist is compiled of huge dance tracks (old and new) that will make your week just a little bit better.
1. Ellie Goulding-I Need Your Love (Feat. Calvin Harris): This track is just destined to be a club anthem for the coming year. Harris' mellifluous producing skills shine alongside Gouldings vocals. The release date is set for the US soon!
2. Martin Solveig- The Night Out (Madeon Remix): Anything Madeon touches is just pure music bliss. At such a young age, he has proved to be a bulldozing force in the EDM world and has done it with such ease.
ELLE held their 3rd annual Women in Music celebration at the Avalon in Hollywood last night. Among the attendees were Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Amy from “Karmin,” and Nicole Scherzinger. However, the one celeb who turned the most heads was ex-Pussycat Doll and now solo artist Melody Thornton!
Meanwhile, former ‘X Factor’ judge Nicole Scherzinger rocked a navy blue cocktail dress, and Jessie J looked fierce in her leopard dress, black booties and two-toned hair. Fellow British singer, Ellie Goulding, also showed up sexy in skin-tight leather pants, a leather jacket, and a cut-out black top with black pumps.
The ELLE Women in Music event will benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. The May Women in Music issue of the magazine hits newsstands April 17th.
