In the onslaught of blonde All Americans models, like Karlie Kloss and Daria Werbowy, and the supposed rise of the Brazilian bombshell, there nonetheless has been a steady rise of a new crop: the Asian model. In 2010, Vogue finally took notice, with an All Asian issue, photographed by Steven Miesel, and the issue used a new model on the rise. Taking the modeling world by storm was a Chinese knockout named Liu Wen. The head-turner is ranked on Models.com as #5, not too shabby an honor!
National Absinthe Day falls on March 5th this year and apart from obviously drinking in its honor, it's important to look and feel great for the occasion. Don green if you're feeling spirited and make sure to prep and pamper in green fairy fashion. Spritz on some eau de absinthe, make sure your breath is ready to take on the night, moisturize those hands that'll be all over cocktails all day long and make sure they look fab while you're sipping.
Absinthe Mints: If you aren't quite in for the adventure that is absinthe, try these absinthe mints. Completely harmless, but with an absinthe taste. Bonus - it leaves you with fresh breath to take on the night! ($4.95)
When shopping a brand new beauty brand, we can’t help but wonder about its credentials. We may be a bit skeptical about the formulas, color palettes, or even the manufacturing. Well we’ve got news of a fresh-faced venture that is sure to be foolproof. Aerin Lauder (yes, granddaughter of legendary Estee Lauder) will be launching eponymous luxury lifestyle brand Aerin, premiering with a cosmetics category this August/September.
Lauder worked side by side with her grandmother and remains the style and image director for the esteemed cosmetic brand. Now, following her lifetime of experience in the industry, she takes a leap with a new generation of products with modern, effortless beauty in mind. Estee Lauder Cos. Inc. licenses the cosmetic line for production, so we can be sure the new products will be manufactured with the same heirloom quality that resonates through the brand’s history. The starting lineup will include Fresh Skin Compact Makeup, a cream-to-powder foundation in six shades; Pretty Bronze Illuminating Powder in two shades; Multi Color for Lips and Cheeks; Rose Lip Conditioner; Rose Hand and Body Cream; an Essential Makeup Bag; and a Brush Essentials set with five specific tools. The products range from $28 to $48 and the brush set is priced at $148. Lauder is also excited to introduce a fresh twist on seasonal color palettes. Four times a year Aerin will offer limited edition collections that will vary based on beauty needs for each season. The fall set will feature two color collections, Weekday and Weekend, each consisting of a pair of eye shadows, a blush, and a highlighter plus a separately sold lip color. Holiday will debut party-perfect lipsticks and summer will focus on bronzers and skin creams. Initially, Aerin will be available online and placed in specialty stores (Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Holt Renfrew, Nordstrom, and select locations in the U.K.) alongside Estee Lauder’s skincare brand ReNutriv.
It’s no secret that we all covet sun-kissed skin. Bronzed beauty is a goal we’re all working toward and one that’s not always easy to achieve. We’re either landlocked or way too busy to hit the coast, (not to mention we try to limit harmful UVs) so we’re forced to attempt a golden glow sans the rays. Sure, pile on the bronzer, slap on some self-tanner, even highlight your luscious locks—but careful, it’s all too easy to end up looking like a pumpkin. Here’s our go-to guide on bronzing tips and the best products of the season.

Check out these cleansers, masks, and makeup products, to help banish oil and improve the appearance of your skin!
It is no secret that the unforgiving harsh winter air can leave our skin disastrously dry and dull. Microdermabrasion is a process that uses coarse particles to slough away dead skin cells exposing a fresh radiant layer of skin and stimulating cell renewal in the process. Resulting benefits include more supple skin, smoothing of fine lines, and can even reduce acne. Occasionally visiting a dermatologist for a professional version of this process is a great way to keep your epidermis in tip-top shape. However, incorporating an at home version into your beauty routine is ideal for glowing skin – and a limited budget! Here are a few product suggestions, based on Total Beauty’s expert consumer research that will carefully improve your complexion this season, all under $60!!

Yes, we've all heard the warnings about the sun, aging and skin cancer. So it's really not necessary for us to go into all the reasons why you should limit your time in the sun -one statistic is all you really need: 1 out of 5 people will develop skin cancer. Yikes! That's enough reason to bust out the sunless tanner.
But if you've ever used sunless tanner, you know it smells like a reeking wet dog. (Super embarrassing when you look good from far, but smell far from good.) WWD reports that Tom Ford has partnered with Estee Lauder Cosmetics, Inc. to launch a 132-piece makeup and skincare collection! Our first thought was, "It's about time." Tom Ford is a man who epitomizes beauty, so (in our opinion) it's a natural progression. Frankly, we're surprised it didn't happen sooner! Ford dabbled in cosmetics previously with his 12-piece Private Blend Lip Color Collection and apparently wanted to do an entire line while at Gucci, but according to WWD, "they weren't convinced he had a voice in color until his lipsticks started selling out again and again." Really? Seems like a no-brainer to us. We love you, Gucci, but you were soo wrong on that one!
