THE SCENE
Nolcha Fashion Week 2011

You’d have to be living under a rock to not know that September is the most exciting month of the year for fashion. It’s like Christmas to a kid, Woodstock to a hippie, or Halloween to employees at Joonbug (see our annual Masquerade Ball)! We’ve received our ridiculously dense September issues, planned out our schedules for Fashion’s Night Out, and set our sights on the month's global Fashion Weeks. Now if you’re like us, we never like to limit our fashion options. We want to see it all! That’s where Nolcha comes in. Coinciding with New York Fashion Week (and equally recognized) is Nolcha Fashion Week: New York, a celebration of independent designers. Representing countries around the world, Nolcha is an entrepreneurial platform, organized to offer top-tier designers the resources to develop their passions into a lucrative business. The 5th annual Nolcha Fashion Show is an invitation-only, four-day event consisting of runway shows, eco-accessory showcases, and seminars and networking opportunities for upcoming designers and industry professionals alike. The opportunity to mingle with Nolcha’s little black book of supportive media, retailers, celebrities, and investors is reason enough to RSVP to any event you can get in on. Here’s a sneak peek at the schedule for Fashion’s Night Out and Lounge and Runway Presentations, courtesy of Nolcha Fashion Week: New York. Check out the full schedule of events September 8th- 13th here.

Chet Settin': What Happened Over The Weekend

Good morning my Miami Joonbugs. I hope the late spring warmth is greeting you as you wake up. I have so many stories to tell you from this weekend, I just don't know where to start. So, as you may have heard, Joonbug and Fashion Indie hosted PROM Class of 2010 this past Saturday night at Espace in Midtown Manhattan. It was lovely to see everyone reminisce about their own high school proms, and I was surprised to see the guest's take on "adult" prom outfits. There were some best dressed, and as my column is not meant to attack or antagonize (we'll leave that to our Almost Famous writers), I will digress and leave out the worst dressed. I have highlights so I can keep you in the loop about what's going on over here in The Big Apple.

CHET JORDAN
Joonbug Staff Gets Excited For Prom 2010: Chet Jordan

This Saturday is the Joonbug and Fashion Indie Prom at Espace! To get the Joonbug office in the mood we asked everyone to reminisce about prom. What is your favorite prom memory? Think about it as you buy tickets. Are you coming with a date or stag? Either way we'll see you Saturday!

JB: What was your first thought when you heard you were hosting an adult prom?
CJ: Oh what a night! And, what should I wear?.

JB: Did you go to your high school prom?
CJ: Yes. I went to prom all four years. I stood in for the prom king at the ceremony when I was a freshman. He was at the Olympic Trials for swimming.

Joonbug Staff Gets Excited For Prom 2010: Perry DeCoveny

This Saturday is the Joonbug and Fashion Indie Prom at Espace! To get the Joonbug office in the mood we asked everyone to reminisce about prom. What is your favorite prom memory? Think about it as you buy tickets. Are you coming with a date or stag? Either way we'll see you Saturday!

JB: What was your first thought when you heard you were hosting an adult prom?
PD: Redemption.

JB: Did you go to your high school prom?
PD: Yes. It was a typical "american pie" type prom. I endured the event and the proceeding jersey shore weekend diagnosed with mono so it could have been a better experience.

CLAUDINE DESOLA
Meet Prom 2010 DJ: Claudine DeSola!

After 10 years of booking DJs for special events, Claudine DeSola decided to jump behind the turntables herself. First, she considered taking some lessons on the drums, but then she came to a realization: “The coolest thing about music is sharing it and learning what songs inspire others.”

Claudine is one of the fabulous DJs of the Joonbug and Fashion Indie Prom, taking place this Saturday at Espace. Check out what Claudine had to say about prom and buy your tickets now!
