There is a certain incandescent ambiance in the air as the beloved Fashion Week returns. Fashionistas wait impatiently for the first day to arrive so that they can pull their best ensembles out of hiding and hit the streets for some couture fun. Tinges of uncertainty bounce around every fashion magazine as contributors wonder what each designer will bring to the catwalk that year. However, with the recent elimination of the infamous event, "Fashion's Night Out," one has to wonder, will Fashion Week this year be as exciting? It was said back in February that the Vogue-funded occasion would no longer take place due to the revaluation of the event’s actual significance.
One of my favorite media personalities, Bethenny Frankel, is searching for models to take part in her Skinnygirl Solutions “Real Woman” Fashion Show at Macy’s on Fashion’s Night Out. The best part? She wants real women!
Bethenny Frankel is searching for three lucky ladies to model in her Skinnygirl Solutions Fashion Show, taking place at Macy’s Herald Square in Manhattan on Fashion’s Night Out. If you’re chosen, you’ll receive a styling session with a Macy’s fashion expert prior to the show, and get to keep the piece of shapewear you walk in. Plus, you’ll get to meet Bethenny who will be emceeing this exciting event. People travel from all over to experience "Fashion's Night Out" in New York City and now it's your chance to actually be a part of it! I think it's great that Bethenny created this new line of shapewear for all of the ladies out there! I had the opportunity to preview the collection and try some of the pieces on. They are both flattering and comfortable (key elements to smoothers & shapers). Obviously, because someone like Bethenny created the line, the pieces are also stylish and might I say, sexy!
Now, according to a statement via British Vogue, Fashion’s Night Out is going global. Expanding to new continents, multiple countries have announced participation in two or more cities. Italy will hold events in Milan, Rome, and Florence; Berlin and Dusseldorf will join from Germany; and Moscow and St Petersburg will fete in Russia. We’ve seen FNO grow the past three years but for 2012 “bigger and better” is an understatement!
“We are delighted to be supporting the fashion and retail sectors again while highlighting the important role fashion plays in the economy of a country,” said Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue. Last year, “numbers of visitors were exceptional, in particular on Bond Street where visitor numbers were up by 92 percent on 2010,” she added. “Street closures and live performances helped boost attendance and create the mood of a stylish street party.” (WWD)
It seems last week everyone and their mother went out for Fashion Night's Out. Fashion isn't usually my thing, so I figured I would be left out had I not joined the party. Luckily, I was able to get into A.Turen's exclusive party. With the city buzzing everywhere, and the drinks flowing, it turned out to be a night full of fun, and, of course, some great outfits.
Designer Ashley Turen invited over a 100 guests to her A. Turen boutique downtown on Stanton street. In attendance were stars like Marcel Goodman, Seth Levine, Maggie Norris, and Andrea Rosario. While there, we were treated to a preview of Turen's new fantastic fall collection. Other highlights included tarot card readings from Auset Gypsy, (I will be rich but suffer a great tragedy...joy) handbag customization with NYC designer Zara Terez, and a jewelry showcase by Amy Walko (you're welcome for the necklace mom).
What a night on Fashion's Night Out! First stop was Nolcha FNO. Walking into Opia I felt mislead and confused but I made my way to the top and walked into a huge space of designers, their clothes, and their models. It was glamorous. First up,

Fellas made sure their pocket squares were looking crisp while Gals overdid their makeup in celebration of, you guessed it, Fashion's Night Out.
Instead of night clubs, elite fashion houses were the highlight of the city last Thursday, September 8th. Salvatore Ferragamo was the spot to be on 5th Avenue this year, while posting a 'Private party' sign outside. All the normal people were lined outside, trying to get a peek of what was happening beyond those walls, as we tippy-toed past security.
Inside, champagne and house pomegranate cocktails were flying. Accompanied by tuna tartare hors d'oeuvres about the size of a cigarette. There were also many other interesting different finger foods, one of which even included foie gras in a flaky pastry. The best bite of the night had to be the red velvet balls. They were so delicious, you probably could've found yourself fighting for the last one with Sports Illustrated super model Jessica Hart...
Local restaurants and businesses were not to be left out of the fun during this year's Fashion Night Out in NYC. Many even paired up with large brands for FNO festivities offering delicious snacks & drinks to partygoers. Hope you shared the love with some of the city's favorite small businesses:
GUESS teamed up with NYC's original dessert truck CupcakeStop at their Midtown and SoHo locations. The truck handed out over 1000 cupcakes from 6-10 pm to excited shoppers who also enjoyed mini-manicures and makeovers at the store.
As everyone is gearing up for what will be another season of celebrating fashion, New York City leaders are pulling out all the big guns, and boast that this year will be "one to remember." Mayor Michael Bloomberg teamed up with a long list of celebrities, artists, designer retailers, and fashion icons to produce a series of events that will take place Thursday September 8th, 2011 [Note: Dates and Times may differ for some locations] throughout NYC between 6:00pm- 11:00pm.
According to the Official Web page for Fashion's Night Out, proceeds from Thursday night will go towards the New York AIDS Fund. For those of you on a budget here is some good news: The all-new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta will be providing a free cab service between Midtown Manhattan and Soho during 5:00pm-12:00am for shoppers who present proof of receipt from any of the participating registered Fashions Night Out retail locations.
Buzz for (yet) another exciting Fashion’s Night Out event was released this week. If there is any free space left on your September 8th agenda, we highly recommend stopping by Realm, one of our favorite SoHo boutiques, who will be hosting a serious roster of femme fatales. Fashion “bloggettes” Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller and Susie Lau of Style Bubble, DJ Chelsea Leyland, and singer-songwriter Lissy Trullie will all be making an appearance throughout the evening from 6-11p.m. As admirers of all senses of style present, we’re excited to hear that these special guests will be helping shoppers style Realm merchandise! Designer collections from Jean Claude Jitrois, Thierry Mugler, and Alexis Mabille will all be up for grabs accompanied by sartorial advice from the above. Owner Randi Jacobson on this year's line-up, "We are thrilled to have such great girls join Realm for FNO this year - such an exciting mix of modern style icons for us all!" We already know Realm throws a great party based on last year’s FNO appearance by Blake Lively. It’s becoming more and more difficult to manage our schedules for next Thursday – but we know this is one party not to be missed!
