What a coincidence it is that two of our absolutely favorite times of the year are so close together: New York Fashion Week and St. Patrick’s Day ! It may not seem to you that the two go hand and hand, but you would be surprised. How so? Well, although green was not the "IT" color of Fashion Week, we identified the most fashionable shade of green with Pantone as Cypress green. This gorgeous ethereal color appeared on over half of our runway shows and is going to be popping up in our fave stores all over the place. We love this color; it looks so sophisticated and elegant. Cypress the most trend setting gorgeous way to sweeten up your wardrobe and get ready to show off your Irish pride (real or fake!).
Nolcha held its very own award-winning Fashion Week event at Chelsea Piers over the week. The event featured some talented, independent fashion designers in front of a global audience of press, retailers, stylists, and industry influencers. In their closing event, the purpose of Nolcha Fashion Week was made important for for designers Nina Athanasiou, Dany Tabet, Jungwon, and Gabrielle Arruda. Our first glimpse of these budding artists came when the lights went down and the spotlight flashed on.
As Fashion Week in New York City hits the final stretch, a select few of privileged guests braved the cold on Monday evening to gather at Tao Downtown in Downtown Manhattan, where they were invited by Television star and "Dancing with the Stars" veteran, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Robert Kheit to preview Cantamessa Men, a high-end collection of men's jewelry. It was a night to remember with a slew of familiar faces including fellow DWTS alumn, Tony Dovolani, broadway rock star, Constantine, as well as Disney starlet and budding fashionista Zendaya. The atmosphere was relaxed ,close and real as we attended Manufactures Launch NYC Couture and Demi-Couture show last night. The wide white runway intrigued while a sea of writers, fashionistas, stylists and designers washed in from the cold streets into the fashion refuge. Amongst the chatter... the lights dimmed and flooded back up on the optic white stage as the show began.
And wow what a show...
Minnoji started the show with ready to wear military inspired womenswear. We love the expertly tailored jackets! Each model wore a headpiece with a patent leather look and a viking style piece protecting the bridge of their nose. Under the jackets were simple draped dresses and models wore chunky black shoes. The models walked with less poise and a much edgier atmosphere, reinventing the fashion industries stereotype. As seen in earlier award show trends, the looks were all neutral colors , specifically black and white and contrasts between soft and hard. As the show continued , an element of surprise with a softer skirt with slits and a maroon tweed sweater - there were still elements fo hard and soft with leather panels and sleeves. Gorgeous!
Traditionally the hub of Fashion Week activities, Lincoln Center offers ample opportunity to eat, drink, and be merry.
Chef John DeLucie’s traditionalist, old-school lavish style comes full tilt at his grand ballroom of a restaurant, designed by decorator Meg Sharpe (formerly of Ralph Lauren). Indulge in almost theatrically fine dining with Hudson Valley Fois Gras, Caviar Service, and decadent entrees like grilled Maine Lobster, Rack of Lamb plated over delicate chantrelles, and Steak served with enormous marrow bones. For simpler fare, try the delicious hand-made pastas, like the Rabbit Risotto, served with fall squash, pea greens, garlic butter, rabbit jus, or the Tagliatelle Carbonara with wild mushrooms, smoked bacon, farm egg, cream, parmesan.

Wang announced the move to Duggal Greenhouse for his February 8th show. Fashion followers are complaining about the move and the commute from the base in Lincoln Center across the East River.
Being the must-see show of Wang's debut collection - the turnoput is not expected to be poorer because of the trek.
Wang will be the first major designer to go outside the Manhattan box for Fashion Week. Wang is also considered one of the only designers with enough of a following and a pull to bring fashion watchers to the stunning Duggal Greenhouse location.
