IMG seeks to make invitations to fashion shows the highly covetable right of industry insiders it once was-- as they were before the sea of social media swept over fashion week. Catherine Bennet, IMG’s senior vice president and managing director, spoke earlier this week with the Wall Street Journal, telling them that “Fashion Week was becoming a zoo,” which has more than a ring of truth to it. Lincoln Center “has been swarmed with fashion bloggers, street-style photographers, and fashion fans…in addition to the hundreds of journalists and scores of celebrities.”

She recently held a modeling competition in NYC to find “the face of Gambita.” Originally, she thought she would be able to select a model from one of the many NYC modeling agencies, but after calling numerous agencies and being told that “models under 5’4’’ do not exist,” she decided she would host her own runway show in order to find a model to represent the company. The only requirement for the competition was that every woman be 5’4” or under.

Besides the epic performances and awards, one of our favorite parts of awards shows is the fashion! Some celebrities really called on their inner fashion gods and goddesses last night. And some just well... didn't. Take a look at some our favorite celebrities who got it right and rocked the red carpet at the 2013 American Music Awards last night.
She didn't rock a dress adorned with Biggie and Tupac's face this time around (although she did wear a 2 piece get up adorned with cats during her performance). Miley decided to keep it classy at this award's show and she strolled down the red carpet in a simple Versace pantsuit.
The Los-Angeles based clothing company, Acrylick draws its inspiration from music, and through collaborating with the up-and-coming Canadian dubstep artist Datsik, has released a clothing line with the sass and energy of the Firepower label. The leggings and print shirts are the unmistakable uniform of West Coast music culture, and are just plain cool to look at. At first glance, the clothes seem busy, but don't distract or bombard the eye; rather, they insist the observer take a closer look. Datsik's approach to his line, however, demonstrates artistic symbolism that is heavily influenced by the music industry. Loud and expressive without being chaotic, the shirts feature three distinct designs: speakers arranged in a geometric patterns, a woman painted in blue wearing a gas mask, and compressors colored with burnt orange and cool blue finished with Datsik's graffiti insignia.
