Catching Up With New World Punx Before Their New York Debut

The past year has seen trance mainstays Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten sneakily plot what could be the collaboration of the century. What started as a laugh at a barbecue in Ibiza has grown into an epic reality and an unstoppable force, culminating in the duo's global debut under the moniker New World Punx this past Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

A modern day trance dream team, Schulz and Corsten draw elements from their own individual styles and blend them together with a fusion of energy and an unrivaled stage presence. Picking up momentum in venues and studios around the world, New World Punx arrived in New York eager to show the world what they were all about; and after a ground breaking performance at the World's Most Famous Arena, the 13,500 in attendance—and millions tuned in around the world—would be hard pressed to deny the duo's newfound magnitude.

The name Ferry Corsten needs no introduction. Dutch producer and jetsetting DJ, Ferry Corsten has built a longstanding and respected career as a pioneering force behind the birth of trance. After decades spent dabbling in different subgenres under multiple aliases and releasing seven albums of electrobliss, the musical veteran is still headlining festivals and selling out shows around the world. We had a chance to chat with Ferry before his concert at Space Miami last Saturday and learned all about the trance master's latest album release, upcoming Groove Cruise debut and "Full On" concert experience.

An Electric Zoo

Article by Sarah Harper

Usually when an eclectic mix of ravers cross paths, they find themselves wired with different brainwaves and thinking patterns, disagreeing and interested in opposite genres whether it be dubstep, progressive house or trance. But when the conversation between the two parties leads to Electric Zoo, surprisingly, the two-different minded personalities can usually come together in agreement: Electric Zoo is an electronic music festival, designed for whatever type of sub genere of dance music you’d like to delve into.

Unlike typical nightclub concerts, “Full On” will feature Corsten spinning his trancey-goodness in a three-dimensional, diamond-shaped LED cube. On top of this sensory-overload magic, the Dutch producer will play back-to-back sets with his start-studded guests such as Gabriel & Dresden, Michael Woods and Audien. Doors open at 11 p.m. and tickets are available here.

Inside Electric Daisy Las Vegas: The Talent, The Production, The Party

Ten miles of darkness and 2000 cars separated us from the festival we had only dreamt about. As we stared forward, excited and anxious, there was a faint flicker towards the sky and then the familiar explosion of fireworks in the distance. A roar ripped through the desert from the cars around us. Indian chiefs and their topless girlfriends yelled and cheered out their windows, as packs of neon spattered fur boots ran by on foot. This was the scene I had heard so much about. The one that would save dance music events

JES: Getting Personal with the Queen of Rocktronica

JES, the reigning queen of Rocktronica and the woman responsible for so many of your favorite trance hits, is constantly evolving. Her musicianship, often overshadowed by producer’s bass lines and synths, is where her heart beats the loudest. Not your average vocalist, JES has also begun experimenting with doing some live DJ sets as she showed during her performance at this year’s Ultra Music Festival. A multi-lingual singer/songwriter, pianist, guitarist, radio host, DJ and all-around entertainer, JES has proved that girls really run the world. And if her ever-growing resume doesn’t impress you, her beautiful soul without a doubt will.
