TRENDTASTIC
Flower Power: Rock the Floral Trend this Season

While this classic trend has never gone out of style, floral prints and patterns will certainly be making a much more diverse statement for summer 2012. Betsey Johnson mixed vibrant colors with oversized tropical floral prints for her spring/summer 2012 collection, while Prada brought back the mod-look, and still others like Valentino and Isaac Mizrahi took a romantic approach.

MISSONI for Target

Target finally releases pictures of its entire Missoni Collection! From makeup brushes to scarves to bicycles, Missoni for Target covers a massive range of fashion and home. Since the announcement this past May, we've all been waiting patiently for a glimpse of the (already) sought-after collaboration. Following in the footsteps of previous high-end designers gone affordable for Target (such as Isaac Mizrahi and Versace), Missoni releases the biggest collection yet. Over 400 pieces containing women's, men's, and children's clothing, as well as housewares, bedding, picture frames, makeup brushes (and even a bicycle!) will hit shelves on September 13th. I imagine there will be a line out the door with shoppers waiting to snag the collection which is being sold for a mere 5 1/2 weeks! We're already in love and getting our tents ready for the stakeout.

CULINARY OCCASSIONS
The Central Park Conservancy's 16th Annual Taste Of Summer

Last Wednesday marked the 16th annual benefit for the Central Park Conservancy, Taste of Summer. The event was a tremendous success, with restaurants from all around New York City showcasing their culinary talents to the sounds of DJ Tom Finn playing crowd favorites. A large white tent complete with décor designed by Ed Libby & Company was set up at Naumberg Bandshell and entertained 1000 of New York’s elite with both an open bar and the chance to sample every dish imaginable. In total, the event raised $650,000 with the help of a silent auction that featured items such as a Tiffany & Co Bridget satchel, a reservation for eight at Rao’s, and a private tour of Isaac Mizrahi’s Studio and a private lunch for the lucky winner and a guest with the man himself. A variety of wines were provided by George Duboeuf and Hob Nob.

FASHIONABLE
Bow Chic

What better way to play with your femininity than with a bow. Bow's can be used to soften, update, or complete a look. Whether in a tough leather jacket or patent leather thigh-high boots, a satin bow cinched around your waist instantly adds a playful effect to an already edgy look. Some inspiring looks are Miu Miu's to-die-for lavender pumps with black bow's, Isaac Mizrahi's elegant pumps with tulle bows, and Chanel's statement hair bow. Revamp your look with a sweet and flirty satin bow headband. Try Forever 21's lace bow bobby pin in teal to show the world how to dress lady-like-chic.

STYLE STALKER
Redesigned, Repurposed and Reimagined

With recession headlines eclipsed by governmental candidates’ gaffes and the constant struggle of the left and right to compromise on anything of consequence, it is easy to overlook that we are still in fact, in the throes of an economic recession. This is probably why I dropped fifty bucks on a mermaid green hoodie at American Apparel this weekend without a second thought.

But I digress.

Instead of resigning to the discount aisles of Wal-Mart (cue Seinfeld’s “Not that there’s anything wrong with that”), the fashionably inclined have breathed new life into last season’s (and the season before that) styles and adapted to the less than ideal economic conditions. Style bloggers, online retailers, discount stores and high-end labels have not only made lemonade out of lemons; they’ve taken that lemonade and mixed a tasty cocktail then placed said cocktail in a sugar-rimmed martini glass.

BEYONCE
Kelly Rowland Pulls A Lindsay?

In typical Lindsay Lohan fashion (of course), singer Kelly Rowland is being accused of stealing clothes from a designer after borrowing looks for a photo shoot.

The former Destiny's Child group member recently restarted her career by venturing into dance music via David Guetta, and co-hosting The Fashion Show on Bravo with Isaac Mizrahi.

Designer Laura Dawson has yet to receive her borrowed apparel, weeks after loaning them to the singer.

Hip, Happening And Helping The Community

In need of a little retail therapy? Before making a beeline to Suburban Square, help others while you help yourself and shop at these socially-conscious boutiques instead.

The Wardrobe Boutique is a new store run by the nonprofit organization, Career Wardrobe, which has helped more than 15,000 women enter the workforce over the last 15 years by offering free professional clothing, job training services and more.

A spiral staircase brings you up to the oversized boutique decorated with fixtures donated by Eileen Fisher and posters of women dressed in the store's stylish collection. Racks are filled with gently used clothes donated by local women and hand picked by a team of fashionistas. The selection includes $10 jeans and $90 fur coats. A smaller couture room includes labels by Isaac Mizrahi and Ralph Lauren. Many of the jewelry and accessories were donated by Joan Rivers' QVC line of products.
