Starchildren, rejoice! Joonbug recently had the honor of sitting down with none other than trance vocal legend JES before her set with ATB this past Saturday night at The Roseland Ballroom. JES, who has been involved in the scene for over a decade and has worked with fellow superstars such as Tiesto and Cosmic Gate, opened up to us about her musical style, influences, and more:
JES under the alias, Taxigirl, has just released a mash up of her song "Do You Love Me" with Deadmau5's "Proffesional Griefers". The song uses JES's vocals and syncs them up wonderfully with the instrumentaion off of Deadmau5's latest hit. The song is available for stream and download via Soundcloud right now.
You can listen to JES's latest episode of her Unleash the Beat podcast on iTunes now, which consists of a bunch of her mashups and other artists original mixes as well.
Chart-topping EDM star JES has just released the 45th installment of her "Unleash The Beat" Mixshow. An hour of nonstop music including tracks featuring Tiesto, Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren and JES herself, the mixdown is available for streaming through Joonbug as well as on the progressive New Yorker's soundcloud page. A full track listing is available below.
JES is also treating fans to a free download of a new track: JES vs. Dinka - It's Too Close [Taxigirl Mashup]. Available for download right here, the new music is as lush, ethereal and delicious as we've come to expect from the EDM goddess. To put it simply, they don't call her the "Queen of Rocktronica" for nothing.
After having just released her latest double cd mix compilation, "Unleash The Beat Vol. 2," we spoke to JES to learn a little bt more about how she became a trance vocalist, and what it's like to be in her shoes. JES has an extremely rich history, originally having worked with more mainstream styles such as pop, rock, and blues. In her words, dance music found her, and the process went rather smoothly as we're sure you can tell. Most recently, she has released her collaboration with Roger Shah, "Higher Than the Sun." Furthermore, JES is featured in BT's newest album, A Song Across Wires, which reached #1 Dance Album on Amazon and on iTunes. She perceives life as a glass half full, and there's surely something we all can learn from the way she lives her life on the edge, and never tries to cut corners when it comes to her music.
Having just released his newest album, A Song Across Wires, BT's latest project hit #1 on iTunes Dance Chart, Amazon, and Beatport almost instantaneously. We think it's safe to say that this is his best album yet. Tracks like "Surrounded" are heavy, glitchy, and contain many different edits and instramentals, whereas "Must Be the Love" is more delicate and airy, at least in the beginning. BT showcases myriad sounds and artists in this album- some old friends, and some more unexpected singers and musicians. We were grateful that we could spend some time talking to him before his release party at Marquee about his album and some other miscellaneous topics. He's a very sweet guy, and is one of the few artists we've seen who actually enjoys interviewing. Check it out!
Just as a breathtaking summer begins to come to a close, Roger Shah brings us Balearic Beauty, featuring 14 new Sunlounger recordings. Three years since The Beach Side of Life, the Sunlounger collection is blissful with its new additions. Bound to enlighten and mesmerize, it is certain that lounges everywhere will be unified by the electronic music composer’s ambient and charismatic melodious talents.
Balearic Beauty wouldn’t be complete without the return of compelling vocalist Inger Hansen from A Beach Side of Life, the ‘Beautiful Lie’ talents of Yoav, and the EDM singer and songwriter JES. Complimented by the newly discovered talents of Alexandra Badoi, Chase, Kingseyes, Sason Bishope Parry and Suzie Del Vecchio, Shah’s thoughtful choice of vocals for Balearic Beauty contribute to the ever enchanting aura of the Sunlounging collection. The customary Album and Chillout versions give listeners the chance to continue their journey where Beach Side left off.
The name Ferry Corsten needs no introduction. Dutch producer and jetsetting DJ, Ferry Corsten has built a longstanding and respected career as a pioneering force behind the birth of trance. After decades spent dabbling in different subgenres under multiple aliases and releasing seven albums of electrobliss, the musical veteran is still headlining festivals and selling out shows around the world. We had a chance to chat with Ferry before his concert at Space Miami last Saturday and learned all about the trance master's latest album release, upcoming Groove Cruise debut and "Full On" concert experience.
JES, the reigning queen of Rocktronica and the woman responsible for so many of your favorite trance hits, is constantly evolving. Her musicianship, often overshadowed by producer’s bass lines and synths, is where her heart beats the loudest. Not your average vocalist, JES has also begun experimenting with doing some live DJ sets as she showed during her performance at this year’s Ultra Music Festival. A multi-lingual singer/songwriter, pianist, guitarist, radio host, DJ and all-around entertainer, JES has proved that girls really run the world. And if her ever-growing resume doesn’t impress you, her beautiful soul without a doubt will.
Having recently celebrated an astounding 20 years a one of the world’s leading EDM DJs/producers, Ferry Corsten spoke to Joonbug about his fourth studio album, WKND (Ultra Music/Flashover) just released this Friday. The internationally known and accredited DJ has traveled all over the world making millions dance to his music anywhere from festivals to nightclubs and even his own "Full on Ferry" production. Being major fans, we had to chat with Ferry Corsten to hear all about his latest album, and what Ferry followers can expect throughout the course of the year!
