With only a week left until Moogfest kicks off in Asheville, NC on April 23rd, more and more announcements have begun rolling out and revealing some juicy details about the upcoming festivities. In the latest update, Moogfest has also revealed that MAKE Magazine will be sponsoring the 4th Annual Moogfest Circuit Bending Challenge. Circuit bending combines technology, sonic artistry, and creativity by experimenting with the inner functions of electronic devices to create new sounds and effects that were not original intended, which is exactly what Bob Moog started out doing before giving birth to Moog Music. The winner will be selected on site from one of the four finalists on Friday, April 25th, and will receive two passes to Moogfest and a Moog Sub Phatty as the Grand Prize.
With only six weeks left to the start of Moogfest 2014, details have been rolling in here there about what exactly is happening when and where over the course of the five-day festival, the most recent details including the schedule of events broken down by day, venues for the scheduled events, and the announcement of individual day tickets.
An individual day ticket for Wednesday is now $49, and single day tickets for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are $89 each, with the purchase of a Saturday ticket granting you access to all of Sunday's scheduled events at no extra cost. All of the individual day tickets include access to both the day and night programming for that specific day.
The long standing tradition of Girls Night Out Thursday's at Webster Hall is getting a full body makeover in order to make way for House Party, every Thursday night from 10pm to 4am. This new weekly event will transform each individual floor of Webster Hall into its own hot bed of hip-hop style. The whole idea is to breathe life back into those 90's hip-hop vibes that everyone knows and loves, and bring them together under one New York City roof in a new and exciting way.
A couple of weeks ago, Skrillex continued his Takeovers tour with five different stops in Brooklyn, bringing some impressive friends with him along the way. Such names included, Just Blaze, A$AP Ferg, Clockwork, Lunice and TOKiMONSTA. Nest HQ's videographer, Glenjamn was also present, filming everything that happened on and off stage. And with this footage, they put together a little recap video, which we have kindly embedded for you above. Also be sure to check out the recap video of the San Fransisco Takeover here. And be sure to stay tuned-- videos recapping his jaunts in Barcelona and Amsterdam will be coming in the near future.
American Hip Hop producer, Just Blaze, has collaborated with electronic duo Mysto & Pizzi on a brand new track for the brand new year. Titled, '1 UP!' the track is a 'classic theme with a new twist' according to Just Blaze. Released on SoundClound yesterday, the tune is up for free downloads. Expect a festival, trap anthem fused with the Super Mario theme song.
