Glamour Announces Best Dressed Women of 2012

Glamour has announced their best dressed women of 2012 including 50 A-listers, from socialites, to musicians, to actresses and models. All were handpicked off of the fashion-forward apple tree and given a thumbs up for the attire they have sported so far this year. Some of the women are more obvious choices like Angelina Jolie and Kate Moss; however, Glamour also chose peeps that have made some questionable fashion choices in the public eye. We here at Glam Damn It have a few we’d like to applaud, and other’s that, well, we just keep getting second-hand embarrassment for- as far as their fashion sense goes!

6 Books to Style Superstardom

Photography remains an integral element of the storytelling process in the fashion industry. It used to be that putting together a show-stopping outfit was reserved for professional stylists and magazine editors alike. However, these days are gone with the popularity of fashion blogs and "how-to" websites, like Who What Wear, taking the Internet by storm. Men and women everywhere have discovered the joys of simply selecting their clothes for the day through the inspiration of others. Personal style has become a part of our daily lexicon, and naturally, there are many books out there on the subject. Glam Damn It has compiled a list of our fave fashion reads. Read one or all of these and you will be well on your way to wardrobe superstardom.

5 Easy Steps to go From Daytime Drab to Nighttime Fab

Every girl-on-the-go is pinched for time at some point or another, and every now and then, she may lack the inspiration to make a quick turnaround from the daytime look to one she can wear out on the town. Well have no fear busy beauties, Joonbug is here! We have come up with 5 great tips that can help you to create the perfect day-to-night look without having to stop at home or pack a duffle on your way to work.

Tip 1: Let’s start with shoes- Slip into a pair of your fave heels!

There is no better way to turn a day look into nighttime style than by ditching the flats and pumping it up (literally!) For those who don’t want to endure the “torture” of the 5-inch stiletto, we have the perfect solution to the misconception that beauty=pain. Check out the Cole Haan collection by Maria Sharpova. With concealed NIKE AIR technology leather, lined leather mid-sole, and stacked heel rubber sole, these babies add comfort to style (also available at Macy’s and Nordstrom). Once that’s taken care of, throw on a pair of your favorite skinny jeans and you’re good to go. We know, not all are fans of the skinny jeans, and if this speaks to you, try a trendy wedge sandal with your simple skirt or dress. It is the perfect variation of high-heels that is comfortable and sure to add flair to your look.

2011's Best Fashion Moments

2011 has been an incredible year, sartorially speaking. From Anne Hathaway's eight costume changes at the Academy Awards to Diane Kruger...well, whenever the woman puts on clothes, a few of the ladies that didn't make the cut were this close. Ultimately, we decided that the criteria to make Joonbug's "Top Looks of 2011" list lay within three very simple (and very visible) requirements: originality, memorability and game-change factor. Once we began to whittle down our large list, we found that very few looks - no matter how much we loved them - fit these requirements.

Style Icons Through the Decades

Becoming a fashion icon requires a certain je ne sais quoi. Understanding what looks good, what looks great, and what looks awe-inspiring takes an innate style that can only come from years of careful curation. It takes a special eye to wow our sartorially saturated souls – and those who are the best at constantly pushing the limits of what makes our hearts skip and our eyes shine? Well, they tend to become superstars in their own right. Here's a look at (just a few) of the greatest style icons from the last five decades and what you can learn from each of them to take your personal style to new heights.

Faking It: Looking Hot When You're Feeling Not

We’ve all been there...one (ahem!)...a few too many after-work cocktails, exceptionally raucous neighbors, work deadlines that are forcing you to burn the midnight oil, or maybe you’ve fallen victim to the latest cold strain running rampant through the office.

Dry Shampoo
No time (or energy) to wash your hair? Use a little dry shampoo to refresh your locks, banish excess oil and add volume. Whether you throw your hair back into a high ponytail, or quickly take a curling iron to a few random sections, (the more haphazard, the better) voila - the effect is instant glamour girl! We suggest you try:

High/ Low, High/ Low, It's Off To Shop We Go!

The phenomenon of mixing insanely expensive designer pieces with label-less bargain duds began when Sharon Stone appeared on the red carpet of the 1996 Oscars wearing a Valentino skirt paired with a plain black t-shirt from the Gap. It's been fifteen years (105 in fashion years) since the birth of the High/Low craze, yet it is still going strong. Quickly evolving from a trend to a necessity, High/Low fashion has come to mean that mixing a $3 tank top with a $300 skirt is more than acceptable. In fact, it's highly encouraged. Celebs and commoners alike are balancing their wardrobes with high-end designer pieces and cheap-o trendy clothes and accessories.
