Harlem, NY – While the Knicks continue to amaze us (in a not so good way), former stars John Starks and Anthony Mason are back for a post-game reunion, bringing us a new pizzeria centered around the custom, made to order pie. It’s a franchise from DC-chain Custom Fuel Pizza, and features over 40 toppings to choose from, including classics like sausage and pepperoni to downright artisanal ingredients like prosciutto, burrata cheese, and grilled artichoke. But in a city as passionate (and relentless) about pizza as a fan was of the 90s-circa Knicks, does Custom Fuel deliver a glorious dunk over Horace Grant and MJ, or is it a heart-breaking 8 in 9 seconds late in the fourth? Let’s find out.
This week, the lords of trancefusion the Disco Biscuits take over Best Buy Theater in Times Square for four nights of their annual New Year's run, which culminates (after a night off) in a three-set throwdown on New Year's Eve at none other than The Theater at Madison Square Garden. The boys from Philly have come a long way in their eighteen years of existence, from playing small bars and clubs to building up the monster that is Camp Bisco to playing in Times Square and the theater of the world-reknowned Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve, and with good reason. Biscuits fans are about as rabid about their band as fans can be and the band kindly reciprocates, taking the crowd on heavily-improvised musical journies that can only be described as 3 hour vacations from the real world. Especially in today's day and age where shows are far and few between, New Year's run for fans of the Biscuits is Christmas, New Year's, and pretty much every holiday you can think of, all rolled into one week of chaos. Friends come in from far-away lands, from Florida to California, and every night receives more hype than the last as the strongest of soldiers enter the battlefield known as the dance floor for all five nights. Those who are particularly strong-willed will even be attending afterparties or a show on December 30th, the one night even the band themselves need for a breather. Not only are the boys back in town but they have brought some stellar support with them to take this week to the next level.
We were only inches away from the legendary, Armin Van Buuren, as he made his way behind the bar to stand on an elevated platform to make his big announcement. His upcoming North American leg of his ARMIN ONLY: INTENSE worldwide arena tour kicks start on April 11th at none other than Madison Square Garden in New York.
Having previously held his ASOT 600 installment in the same legendary venue, it only made sense to revisit the same grounds to make his upcoming tour an incredible experience. On choosing the location, Armin describes Madison Square Garden as the "perfect location for a show this size, easy venue to get to" then to add a moment of pride for all New Yorkers, he adds "if you're in New York you better be at the best place possible."
Glory 12 New York will be taking over Madison Square Garden on Saturday November 23 with their lightweight championship tournament. $150,000 is at stake for this fight and features 4 of the best lightweight fighters in the world.
Ranking in at #1 is Robin Van Roosmalen from the Netherlands. So far he has only lost one Glory match and won 6. With a 66% KO ratio, all eyes will be on this Dutch lightweight come November 23.
From Madrid to Mumbai, cities around the globe are still buzzing in the wake of Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance 600 World Tour. Having touched down on ten of its twelve world-wide destinations, the expedition lowered the landing gear last week in preparation for its final two shows. In top form, they came fully equipped with all the makings to celebrate the 600th incarnation of Armin's famed A State of Trance Radio Show.
It’s only been a few days since WMC came to a close but for NYC we’re ready for another dose of music madness—this time with W&W at Madison Square Garden and Best Buy Theater! The Dutch duo is joining Armin van Buuren's March 30th ASOT 600 show at MSG and after will play their own (and biggest!) show at Best Buy Theater, which they managed to completely sell out! But no worries. W&W fans can check them out when they return for a string of dates at the end of April.
