Brooklyn, NY – On September 22nd, TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint will offer a one day crash course in the delicious local fare that makes up over 40 of North Brooklyn’s best restaurants, bars and breweries. This 4th annual event will grace the streets, rain or shine, with sample tastes of your choice ($25 for 4 food tastes, and 2 drink tastes, $45 for 8 food tastes and 4 drink tastes), including special performances by New York Night Train DJ Jonathan Toubin and DJ Queen Majesty.
Calling all booze hounds! Brooklyn Shaken & Stirred is going down October 2nd from 6-9pm at The Green Building. For one night only, Brooklyn cocktail bars and restaurants come together for a night of eats and libations. Sharon Beason, founder of BrooklynExposed.com and Tasting Brooklyn, is the mastermind behind this cocktail-infused evening that features cocktails made with small-batch liquors, boutique local wines and beers, accompanied with small bites.
Both new and old cocktail spots will be serving their signature drinks, including Maison Premiere, Pok Pok, and Sunburnt Calf. Local liquors include Brooklyn Gin, Six Point Brewery, and Brooklyn Republic Vodka. There will also be plenty of artisanal liquors including Templeton Rye, Tenneyson Absinthe Roale, and White Pike Whiskey. And if you're a wine lover, you won't be left out! Local wineries include Brooklyn Oenology and Brooklyn Winery.
This past Wednesday City Harvest's young professionals group, Generation Harvest, held its eleventh annual Summer in the City restaurant tasting and cocktail party at the Metropolitan Pavilion. During the event, guests had the opportunity to participate in a silent auction, featuring numerous goodies, both food and non-food related, as well as sample eats and libations from some of New York's best restaurants and bars. This year's event had over 650 attendees and raised over $230,000 to support City Harvest's mission of feeding NYC's hungry.
Tickets are now available for Bon Appétit’s three day, pub-inspired grub crawl through Brooklyn. During the first weekend in June, grub enthusiasts will have a chance to get up close and personal with Brooklyn’s most buzz-worthy chefs. Eat and drink your way through three Brooklyn neighborhoods while taking a peek inside the kitchens that have create the delicious foods that have put the borough on the culinary hotspot map. On Saturday night, stick around after the food stops for a concert and DJ performance at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory starting at 9 p.m.

Williamsburg’s cocktail lounge and oyster den known as Maison Premiere is quite a spectacle. One can’t help but think of the phrase 'old-time barroom,' as the loud swing/bop/jazz music compliments the organized chaos rattling the walls. The experience might feel a bit like traveling back to a time when the tavern was where one got the news, and bar-keep reigned as a prominent social figure.
Now that Valentine's Day is past and the warmer spring months are finally just around the corner, Le Barricou's owner, Josh Boissy, has opened up his long-awaited, New Orleans-inspired oyster-and-Absinthe bar in Williamsburg. Boissy told the New York Times' Diner's Journal in a recent interview that he expects to have more variety of Absinthe than any other venue in the country. Sounds appropriate, since he had the featured Absinthe fountain hand-carved from the mossy green marble for nearly 4 months, intending to turn the Williamsburg spot into something like the Olde Absinthe House in New Orleans (it features a fountain that is made of a similar shade of marble and with a similar statue on top). Boissy toured the Olde House and knew he needed a fountain just like it for his own venue, so he worked in conjunction with Krystof Zizka (his partner), John and Kevin McCormick (designers), and Maxwell Britton (mixologist) to make his vision come to life.
