Newly opened Maslow 6 Wine Bar is hosting a free wine tasting tonight from 6:30-9pm. Francesco Ripaccioli, proprietor of Canalicchio di Sopra, one of the classic estates of Montalcino, will be in attendance and pouring a number of vintage Brunello di Montalcino.
The event begins at 6:30pm with a tasting of Rosso and a brief presentation by Fancisco at 7pm; followed by the Brunello tasting. Those who miss the beginning, fret not, you will still be able to taste the wines later, up until 9pm.
The event is free to attend but RSVPs are recommended and can be made here. Happy sipping, New York!
Spring is here, and the best way to celebrate is to glug down tons of beer, learn (and taste) different wines, and of course, watch sexy burlesque dancers do their thing! Okay, maybe the beer drinking is the only thing you normally do, but everything else is sure to be a good addition to your springtime traditions!
The Naked Truth: A game/burlesque show unlike any other. The show features burlesque star Julie Atlas Muz, and is hosted by Jonny Porkpie at The Triad. It will also feature Trixie Little and the Evil Hate Monkey, Peekaboo Pointe, Bunny Buxom and Satira Sin. Audience members will be hypnotized by the moves of these performers as they take the stage. Lucky attendees can also partake of the action when they come on stage to take part in an interactive game show that has them attempting to expose (and guess) the performers' most intimate secrets (let's hope you don't have too many of your own!). All your hard detective work won't go unrewarded--awesome prizes will be given away! The show starts April 21st, with performances happening the third Saturday of each month until June. Tickets are $35 (general admission) and $45 (premium seating), and can be purchased here. It's time to uncover...The Naked Truth!
Nicolas Palazzi of PM Spirits, who specializes in sourcing rare spirits, will be leading a tasting of Pineau des Charentes and Cognac with specially paired cheeses tomorrow, March 29th from 6:30-8:30pm. Nicolas was born to a family of winemakers in Bordeaux. He learned the art and science of Cognac under the tutelage of his grandfather's best friend, whose family started distilling around 1702.
During the event, Nicolas will guide you through a tasting of old Pineau des Charentes, a combination of Cognac and unfermented grape must (both red & white). These Pineaux are harvested by hand and some are made with six year old cognac and are bottled only when the right proof is achieved naturally. These libations will be paired each with a different cheese, selected carefully by artisan organic cheese importer, Seymour Pond of Pondini. Next, Nicolas will take you through some of the best cognacs and explain the distillation process and how different styles are created. All of the cognacs will also be paired with specially selected cheeses. What's on tap for the evening? Check out exactly what will be served below:
Head over to Maslow 6, located in Tribeca, for that after work perk that you most definitely need. From 6-9pm, the wine store will be having a free tasting of over two dozen wines, along with cheese and charcuteries. 10% of proceeds from all purchases will support The Harmony Program, a non-profit organization that provides musical education for economically disadvantaged youth around the city.
There's no better way to do your holiday shopping!
