This Saturday, January 26, Electric Beach welcomes a rare NYC appearance by German DJ/Producer, Moguai. He's been on the electronic music scene for more than a decade, and his DJ skills can prove it.
Inspired by the musical surroundings of the Ruhr area in Germany, including the sounds of Kraftwerk, he found his way as a DJ into the rave scene. Since then, he has created a distinct sound of his own leaving his mark on the musical map while those listening and dancing easily become enthralled by the man behind the decks.
Miami Music Week brought the dance music world to its knees this year as the best DJs from all around the world converged on our tiny island. I was lucky enough to sit down with this years' rising star artist, Moguai, to find out how he went from Germany’s main man to an international sensation.
What inspired you to become a DJ?
As I teenager I was a skater and into punk and heavy metal music. In Dusseldorf, where it all began in Germany, I first saw people playing techno music at parties. There was so much energy and revolution in the air and everyone was dancing and going totally mad. I knew I wanted to play this music and be with these people.
As the month of March progresses the beach begins to vibrate with the bass from world-class DJs. Everywhere you turn you’re inundated with one DJ who is better than the next. Yet there is always that one party, the crème de la crème that everyone wants to be a part of. This year that party is being held at the iconic Miami staple, Nikki Beach. This legendary club will be bringing to the beach a 17 hour, 3 stage rager that brings together some of the most noteworthy acts in the electronic music industry.
Their No Sugar Added Miami 2011 party will be held Friday March 25, and their recipe of the world’s most noteworthy electronic musicians, a three stage set-up, and Miami’s sexiest clientele, is the perfect formula for a March Music Week extravaganza that is at the top of every party goers list. For starters, The Beach Stage will be headlined by Grammy nominated and International Dance Music Award winner, Armand Van Helden. His body rocking beats are sure to bring in an enormous crowd, especially since he will be joined by breakthrough up and comer, AN21. Rounding out the Beach Stage lineup is AN21’s partner in crime Max Vangeli as well as Norman Doray, Kim Fai, David Tort, Moguai, Richard Grey, and Dutch duo Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. Remember to bring your sexiest swimwear because this beach party is sure to get hot!
