Calling all night crawlers! If you love to party, are out and about, or serving NYC's trendiest crowds, it's time to listen up. An award-winning television production company based right in New York City is partnering with a major cable network and working on an exciting new documentary series that could feature YOU! The series will tell the story of NYC through the eyes of its city dwellers who are on the job or out socializing between the hours of 3-5am, highlighting the unique ways and real life events through which the city comes to life at night.

Laurent Tourondel is a classically trained French Chef with an impressive resume. As the Executive Chef of Brasserie Ruhlmann in Rockefeller Center, he is also responsible, along with ex-partner Jimmy Haber, for the BLT and LT restaurant locations all over the world. Hong Kong, Las Vegas, Panama City, Miami and Scottsdale have all had the pleasure of enduring the mark Tourondel leaves and now New York can further experience what Tourondel has to offer.
This fall Tourondel will be opening the Arlington Club on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in conjunction with the Tao Group. The Tao Group is a premier restaurant and nightlife group in control of Tao, Lavo and Asellina both in New York and Las Vegas. The Arlington Club will be located on Lexington avenue between 73rd and 74th street where Payard Patiserrie & Bistro was shut down in 2009 for health code violations. Unable to past inspection and reopen, the space has been vacant ever since.

A new facial detection technology called SceneTap has been set up in a number of SF locations with hidden sensors that “discreetly record the age and gender of the people entering and leaving.”
Whoa!
The idea is that, when club goers want to know what the crowd is like before they head out,they can log into SceneTap to see a clubs male to female ratios, average age, and number of occupants. What you used to count on texts from friends for can now be attainable through modern technology.

Taste, by its very nature, is a subjective entity. A cultural litmus test which dictates—by those shadowy arbiters of the latest zeitgeist—what is essentially what. The old adage “history is decided by the victors” very much applies in matters such as these. What will forever be remembered is contingent upon a consensus—not of majority—but of metaphysical social hierarchy.
For fear of digressing, let us return to the topic on hand: what defines a quality evening out? What mixture of characteristics is universally lauded as “successful” by a species so enamored by the subjectivity of personal opinion? It is a slippery slope, yet scale it we shall, for within this conundrum lies the kernels of the human psyche—the highly stylized engine of experiencing revelry.

Gaining admittance is a rite of passage of sorts—a bildungsroman of the social strata—that requires one to leave their humble beginnings in hopes of grander pastures.
Cracking into the mercurial night scene is no different. As is the wont of life, the most enticing offers always lie behind gilded, heavily muscled doors. The velvet rope acts as a line demarcating the fashionable from the socially inept—the “in crowd” from the spectators. Are we all doomed to repeat the tortures of adolescence, like some cosmic form of social purgatory? The answer is “No”—there is hope!
1. St. Patrick wasn’t even Irish. And his real name wasn't Patrick
You’ll be surprised to learn that dear St. Patrick was not Irish, but actually a Brit named Maewyn Succat born in England at the turn of the 4th century. At the age of 16, he was kidnapped by a band of pirates and sold into Irish slavery, where he worked as a shepard. It was at this time that he turned to religion for solace and after six years of slavery, he was commanded by God in a dream to escape from captivity to the Irish coast. Here, he boarded a ship to Britain, decided to become a priest under the bishop of Auxerre, and took on the name Patricius (which derives from the Latin term for "father figure"). He returned to Ireland after dreaming that the people of Ireland were calling upon him to Christianize them from their native polytheism. After 30 years of evangelism, he died on March 17, 461 and has endured as the principle champion of Irish Christianity.
