Gotham Burlesque is at it again...this time with special guest star Dirty Martini. September 1st at 10pm brings you the spiciest Labor Day Weekend around with New York's sexiest show. Headliner Angie Pontani is sure to bring the house down with her sultry moves, along with fellow dancers Peekaboo Point, Bettina May, Nasty Canasta, Medianoche, Pinkie Special, and Albert Cadabra. The show will be hosted by *Bob*, with special appearance by Dangrrr Doll. Head to The Triad for a night to remember. Ticket prices range from $35-$45 and can be purchased here.
If you want some live music, good movies, and some good ol' Southern brunch, then head to Brooklyn's Nitehawk Cinema for their new Country Brunchin' series.
Every first weekend of the month, there will be a pre-show performance followed by a movie screening. Choose from an array of Southern dishes that will make your mouth water and have you thinking you're a lot further south than Brooklyn!
The weekend series starts this Saturday with tunes from The Gentleman Callers followed by a screening of Smokey and the Bandit. Take your seats at 11:30am for a fun-filled day of car chases, 60s era country classics, and a big pile of chicken fried steaks and Coors to get you going. Put some south in your mouth and enjoy the show!

Hey New Yorkers, looking for a groovy experience outside the norm? Trip out this weekend at Nitehawk Cinema for Jodorowsky's psychedelic epic, The Holy Mountain. The show is sure to awaken your senses and will feature a live soundscape performance by Long Distance Poision on Friday and Saturday nights at 12am. And don't freak about the late-night showing because by the time the movie starts, the booze will already have been flowing for hours and you can chow down and drink up as you watch the film.
Alejandro Jodorowsky's films are noted for their psychedelics, and The Holy Mountain is no exception. You can expect bloodshed, nudity, and plenty of imagination in this film. Jodorowsky plays a Christ figure who journeys through giant sets, beautiful locations, and kaleidoscope colors. Long Distance Poison, who will be accompanying the movie, is made up of Nathan Cearley, Erica Bradbury, and Casey Block. They bring together convergent psychedelic and electronic energies to perfectly complement the film.
It's time for Twi-hards to move over because The Hunger Games have officially started! And to celebrate, Nitehawk Cinema will not only be showing the highly-anticipated movie, but they will also be showing its predecessor.
That's right, Battle Royale (2000) takes place in Japan, where the government captures a class of 9th grade students and forces them to fight to the death. Sound like a familiar plot? Battle Royale is directed by Kinji Fukasaku and based on the novel of the same name.
It is still banned in many countries, but has won three Japanese Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Too bad these children don't have peppy Effie Trinket to keep their spirits up!

Ingredients
2 oz Original Moonshine
3 oz tomato juice
1/2 oz fresh lemon
3 dashes worcestershire sauce
2 drops tabasco

A new state law will allow movie theaters to serve alcohol -- as long they "have table seating and a full restaurant menu selection."
The law will allow more venues to offer dinner and a movie with a legitimate alcohol license, and will allow theaters like Williamsburg's Nitehawk Cinema and Greenwich Village's Angelika Film Center to add alcohol to their cafe menus. But big name cinemas like AMC are also tapping the keg -- they already serve alcohol in New Jersey, and are quickly readying themselves to make their New York locations booze-friendly.

Nitehawk Cinema thinks that it's time to put a hold on Pixar's digital animation films. Going old-school, they are bringing you the best in hand drawn animation.
