New Year's Nails

OPI has just released its holiday collection inspired by the major motion picture, Burlesque. The collection is made up of six glitters and six metallics, all of which are more than worthy to be painted on your nails this New Year's Eve.

Each color is packed with all the glitz and glamour a girl needs to have a show stopping night out on the town. The glitters are made up of a assortment of different colors - from purples and pinks to golds and green. The metallics also range in color from deep reds to golden coppers. The selection will keep you partying well into the new year.

Shoe In the New Year In Style

Nary is there a better excuse to dress to the nines than New Year's Eve. It’s the last night of the old year and were it a good or bad one, it should be sent off in style. What better way to do so than by focusing on the linchpin of any great outfit- shoes. This year, forgo the gold lamé and sequins for the classic, little black dress and pair of shoes that are sleek, sexy and sky high.

Since not all of us have have the pocketbooks for a pair of Louboutin’s or Anastase’s, we can turn our attention to these equally sexy and much more affordable styles.

What's Dark, Shiny, and Glamorous All Over?

NYE party plans? Check. LBD? Check. Bedazzling eyes? Check - once you've watched Youtube sensation and beauty guru Michelle Phan's tutorial below, that is. In this episode, she dishes out her recipe for a gaze so glamorous that once you've locked eyes with that dreamboat across the bar, he won't be able to look away.

Sounds great, right? And it's super-easy, too. Phan always makes her various guises look like effortless (how does she do it without a mirror?!), but this look really is rather simple and only requires a few key products beyond what you most likely already have.

COOL SHIT
Soundproof That Annoying Friend

Unattractive object right? Hey, looks aren't everything. You'll be thrilled to have this when the awkward friend of the group wants to start karaoking at the adult New Year's party.

If karaoke is an every weekend kind of hobby for them than you might have an issue. Needless to say, don't think your friend will notice what kind of microphone it is if the drinks are flowing.

Just hand them this soundproof microphone and even the most tone deaf entertaining-ish person will bring in the new year with the perfect tune.

Respect the Classics
The hot toddy is as essential to the winter holidays as eggnog or Santa Claus. It somehow manages to combine the best things of the season: rum, cinnamon, apples, and butter. Now that I have your attention, I present you a map to tradition. 2 or 3 ounces dark rum Twist lemon peel Stick cinnamon 2 cloves Sweet cider or water 1 tablespoon sweet butter Nutmeg

Warm a kettle by rinsing it with boiling hot water. After dumping the water pour in the rum and add lemon peel, cinnamon, and cloves. Then boil the cider/water and pour into the rum. Add the butter and stir everything together. Pour into a mug and grate some fresh nutmeg to garnish. Add sugar if desired.
